Goose Green ; The state of the Grass

Anyone else noticed that Southwark Council dont seem to be bothered to cut the Grass on Goose Green.I reckon its only been cut once in about 3 months. Is it to hide all the empty bottles and cans of booze, i wonder?

I haven't noticed on Goose Green, but in many parks etc councils are deliberately leaving areas unmown for parts of the year to make meadows.

These are home for wildflowers and attract beneficial insects such as bees.

Seems to be the same all over Southwark - haven't seen many council gardeners around this summer

I've seen them tending the Goose Green roundabout and the Dog Kennel Hill plants - council gardeners, I mean.

The grass has been cut!! well in a fashion, its still long amongst the tree groupings. My dog,Patch is happy now his tennis bounces again....

the guys that used to go round the roads weeding don't come any more, well I haven't seen any in ages, I assume it's something to do with all the cut backs, pardon the pun lol

Don't know if it is relevant in this case but It is the norm to leave areas of grass unmown to help pollination.

When you say "weeding", do you mean those guys who spray noxious chemicals on all the lovely wild flowers that grow on the edges of the pavements?

They still come around, but less often. I notices they came around a few weeks ago after the "weeds" had grown considerably after the rainfall.
