Flock and Herd Butchery

Hi,

So I was walking down Bellenden Road yesterday and found out there is a new butchery opening down there. Looks interesting. Really like the name- Flock & Herd (http://www.flockandherd.com/)

Will be good to see another butchery around here as I am only aware of William Rose.

Hopefully it will be open soon in time to catch the last couple of weeks of the BBQ season. You never know, we might even get a freak heatwave in October again.

Anyway, I've signed up to their website so if I hear anything about the opening I'll get it on here if anyone else is interested.

Check it out for yourself anyway

This is a thread about Flock and Herd - there's no need to turn it into a thread about supporting a different butcher. From what I've heard Flock and Herd are likely to offer slightly different produce to William Rose anyway - an emphasis on game for example and the promise of homemade faggots. I think it would be great for people to support a new business - and healthy competition for a Lordship Lane stalwart is no bad thing either.

Actually I think WR is pretty good for game. But that aside, I think a decent butchers is great news for Bellenden Rd. And I think they are far enough apart to happily co-exist.

Apparently the grove branch of William Rose was an overspill for refrigeration as the LL branch is so busy without enough capacity.

I think the introduction of another good local butcher that cares about its provenance of its meat can only be great for the area in general.

Local greens the weekly veg bag scheme are hoping to introduce a collection point at the Victoria very soon as well. So the Bellenden road area will be well covered food wise.

I think the chap opening Flock and Herd may be the same young man who used to manage The Ginger Pig in Borough Market. I read the message on the shop window and he has the same name as the butcher that used to appear on Market Kitchen occasionally as a 'meat expert', and work in Borough.

If so, welcome to Bellenden Road Mr. Celebrity Butcher.

Hi,

Just a quick introduction of myself I?m Charlie who is opening Flock & Herd Butchery on Bellenden Road in the next couple of weeks. We are focusing on free range meats along side our own sausages and bacon. I have a passion for saucing free range animals from small farms that have had time to grow slowly and have lived a happy life. I have a lot of friends, family and old customers who live around the area and I?m sure some read the forum as it?s a great community website. I look forward to meeting you soon and welcoming you to Flock & Herd. Thanks for all the support and feel free to visit www.flockandherd.com or @flockandherd to keep up to date with news.

Thanks

Charlie
