chaz123
Hi, I was wondering is there are any toilet facilities open in Dulwich park? Thanks, Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/252787-are-any-toilet-facilities-open-in-dulwich-park/ Share on other sites
Zig-Zag
Not unless something has changed since last week. Very annoying and difficult esp. for children and older people amongst others of course Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/252787-are-any-toilet-facilities-open-in-dulwich-park/#findComment-1420155 Share on other sites
seenbeen
There are no toilets open anywhere around here....that is why if you walk around the perimeter of the park, Alleyns' Field and memorial gardens yo will smell human pee, and even see people peeing, as I did in the park on Sunday Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/252787-are-any-toilet-facilities-open-in-dulwich-park/#findComment-1420174 Share on other sites
richard tudor
Can you not use the toilet facilities in the main office block? or do staff have to keep their legs crossed all day? KidKruger
The public loos in the park have been closed for weeks. They should put a sign in the gates because for some people getting caught short is a problem. NewWave
Yes surrounding areas really do smell of wee and I have even seen soiled underwear thrown under a hedge. The lack of any public loos has been a bit of a mare tbh on my daily exercise in this hot weather I'm scared to drink any water because I'm sure to need the loo (older persons bladder problems!)so I get home utterly parched! yorksgirl
It is an awful moment when you realise that there is nowhere, absolutely nowhere open. Didn't they invent some ingenious device for astronauts? Or would you actually have to wear a space suit for that to work? KidKruger
And I'm sure there's no flexibility for those poor souls caught short and needing to head for the bushes ! AntP2015
I imagine they aren't opening the toilets as it's very hard to police their use. They are also discouraging people from going out to the park (or out in general) for long periods of time. Think of the poor Southend End beach that was inundated with people. The sea would have taken a battering. Perhaps people should stay at home a little longer. Clearly the most heroic thing they did. I hope the Council is supporting its staff to clean up the resulting mess that is being left by caught-short parks users especially given the knowledge that the virus survives a long time - 14 days? - in poo. PnB
You have to go in the bush, which is annoying when there is so many joggers puffing past. Its even worse on Peckham Rye Common, there are not even any bushes! So you have to slash against a tree in full view of everyone. Lets just say i left the common later minus boxers and socks, as well as possible wounded pride. binkylilyput
Not having toilets open isn't exactly encouraging people to wash their hands......which is meant to be the single most effective strategy to avoid the virus (other than staying indoors 100%) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/252787-are-any-toilet-facilities-open-in-dulwich-park/#findComment-1420332 Share on other sites
Frankito
That doesn?t seem to make much sense if that is the case as the tennis courts have been open all week in both Dulwich Park and nearby Belair..ntP2015 Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I imagine they aren't opening the toilets as it's> very hard to police their use. yorksgirl
In effect you can only use the parks if you live within walking distance ( the individual's personal walking distance), or a short drive (and have a car). Didn't they> invent some ingenious device for astronauts? Agreed. If you suffer from urge incontinence, the current situation must be very difficult with so many places closed.I'm not entirely sure I'd call it ingenious and you'll definitely want a secluded spot and some sanitiser but a SheWee makes using a plastic bottle possible. It's proven invaluable at festivals when camping at a distance from the facilities. AntP2015
Not sure of the link between tennis courts and toilets? I think I am missing something. I played tennis many times before and not needed the loo. macutd
there should be a sign saying one in. one out on the door and they should be cleaned twice a day.and that goes for all toilets. People need to use the loo when they go out Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/252787-are-any-toilet-facilities-open-in-dulwich-park/#findComment-1420457 Share on other sites
womanofdulwich
I think you just have to limit your activity according to your own needs. I'm sure you've been on long car/coach journeys when you have to manage for 3 hours. seenbeen
I wouldn't use the loos even if they were open. The spread from urine and faeces was documented at the start- remember diarrhoea and intestinal upset was a symptom.https://www.news-medical.net/news/20200402/Is-coronavirus-spread-through-feces.aspx Also when you flush, if the lid is not down, the urine and faeces are aerosolized into the air...that was in the news some years ago as a warning to people who leave their toothbrushes etc open in a bathroom with a toiletMight explain why public loos are not open at all! fishbiscuits
People are really not supposed to be going out for long periods of time. Do your exercise and go home again. Go to the toilet before you leave home, FFS! Most of us can hold it in for a while! If you have an actual medical condition, then you have my honest sympathy, but I'm not sure what the answer is other than to unfortunately limit your activity even more than the rest of us.
