Wanted to share a great (in a weird way) experience my family had at Rocca at the weekend, and had to wait til I'd had my 12 week scan to out myself as pregnant!!

We've always had great family meals at Rocca in the village, food is good and staff are lovely with children. We decided to go along at the weekend on a very hot day. Despite having thought I'd kept my nausea-filled self cool all day, I clearly wasn't feeling my best as I managed to semi-pass out in the corridor en route to the loo. A very kind customer led me back to my table outside and then the Rocca staff kicked in: cold flannels, ice buckets and even the manager fanning me. It was all very embarrassing but I felt so rotten (had forgotten fainting feels like you're dying!) that I couldn't have been more grateful for their care. My waitress Lucia was so lovely to us and to my slightly bewildered 2 year old. And in fact the team kindly took him inside to a cooler area to eat his dinner and sat with him while I perked up with my husband at my side. Thanks to their lovely service I managed to recover well enough to eat all my lasagne (big deal for me at the moment as can hardly stomach anything) and we left with smiles on our faces!

All too often you read a bad review or a negative experience with staff so I thought it was definitely important to mention how superb all at Rocca were to us. Family-friendly all round, thank you Lucia and everyone at Rocca!! Email to manager on way too.

Another recommendation for Rocca from me! Went there for first time last month after I got sick of my Mum raving about it. Staff really friendly and they didn't make me leave pram in particular area when we sat down to eat or fold it down. They are also are much better than Pizza Express at toddler meals, really cheap for a freshly made pizza (think it was about ?4) for my 2 year old - and they went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable despite it being busy and super hot. It's really nicely done inside and the food is great value for money - think most expensive main is about ?14 (fresh fish), they have nice wines and free chilled bottles of filtered water for the table. My mother in law who is half Sicilian insists she eat there everytime she comes down so I imagine the food is very authentic too. Defo recommend for family meal...

Sorry to hear about your semi-blackout BST that happened to me last time but at the DKH Sainsburys who were equally nice and got me a chair to sit in the queue at the checkout and also offered to buy me a coffee at Starbucks! Think in general society is very helpful ;-)

    • I agree. Internal rifts and factions will be music to Farage's ears. McAsh wrote something not long ago about how the centre and left need each other. This government is far from ideal but we need some stability not a far-left coup.
    • This new party might do nothing more than serve Reform victory in the next election - there is no mood for a far-left party (as 2019 aptly demonstrated) and taking votes from Labour could be a nightmare for the whole country. But Corbyn has only cared about himself and his ideology - once a backbencher, always a backbencher.
    • The fragrant Nancy Birtwhistle advises this spray on site of urine/faeces to deter canines: 200ml water 50ml vinegar 30 drops peppermint extract or oil Put in spray bottle, use daily for a week.
    • Reading this sort of stuff - it's tiring. It's a weird focus on marginal English politics instead of the mainstream and instead of UK politics. How do you use 4 ex-Labour MPs getting elected an example of a supposed trend but ignore the election of 411 Labour MPs in the same election? How do you waffle on for several hundred words about the prospects of new left parties without mentioning what's been happening in this area for the last 20 years in Scotland and Wales?
