Local history

Anyone else have a intrest in local history ? Or finding things

Yes I am, know a bit of local, not as much as i would like too

intersted at moment to know where farm house was on the rye.

I recently learned of the (it seems widely known) knocking-shop opposite the old Crystal Palace Tavern during 90s.

Very local history to me.

There's lots of local history books, the most detailed,probably, being Victorian Suburb, by Dyos. There's the John Beasley ones which cover nearly everything (except knocking shops - there was one opposite me and I didn't realise. Just thought they had a lot of visitors at odd hours)

It's a pity there isn't a local history society, perhaps the population here is too transient.
