There's lots of local history books, the most detailed,probably, being Victorian Suburb, by Dyos. There's the John Beasley ones which cover nearly everything (except knocking shops - there was one opposite me and I didn't realise. Just thought they had a lot of visitors at odd hours)

It's a pity there isn't a local history society, perhaps the population here is too transient.
