davidhealy
I am having a BBQ for quite a few people and looking to purchase a large amount of quality meat - sirloin, rump etcI am looking for options other than the local butcher in ED which whilst excellent would charge me an absolute fortune!Any ideas? maxxi
A trip to Smithfield - doesn't have to be 3am - you can get some very good stuff at good prices around 6-7am. Jeremy
You could try this guy: http://www.markymarket.com/MarkyMarket/home.htmlAlthough I'm not sure if it will work out cheaper than the butcher or not. Annette Curtain
Costco in Croydon if you have a card (?25 per year) I had pork belly & ribs from there & they were perfect. Big catering size packs and very well pricedOr Smithfield starts retailing in the public hall at 10pm I heard on the radio last week ( due to the congestion charge their hours have changed)Or Buntings on Peckham Road is excellent Lastly, don't listen to Fox. He knows nothing about meat with comments like thatEnjoyNette Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25214-bbq-meat/#findComment-570788 Share on other sites
jamesb
Buy some rump steak.Cut it into thick slices.Immerse in teriyaki sauce and marinade for a few hours.Cook over very hot coals for a minute-or-so.Pile up on a large plate & pass round as tasty finger food.It never fails - trust me!Enjoy. pablogrande
try the butchers up by the plough, always great stuff there and good prices, their sausages are home made and are very good, I am sure he will do you a deal if you are buying a quantity. Agree on the rump great on the BBQ but wrap in oil and leave to rest for 10 mins afterwards. DulwichFox
I lived in Peckham as a kid.. 50's Buntings was my mum's choice. It is on Peckham Park Road, Not Peckham Road. Great to see They are still there. I bet William Rose won't be here(ED) in 60 years time. Nor Me. :) Still will not have to wait that long to collect my winnings. KidKruger
A kilo of free-range chicken wings is ?2.65 at the Willima Rose butchers.Marinate with Walkers Wood jerk seasoning, onions, garlic, soy sauce, salt n pepper, ginger powder, if you put in a coupleof freezer bags you can squash it in to the spaces available in the fridge (unlike a big bowl) it will also help you in 'turning-over' the contents.A couple of days in fridge.BBQ roast it when the charcoal's settled. Can of Red Stripe.Sorted.
