Ronnijade
My dog has hurt her paw somehow in the garden today. I?m not quite sure what she?s done to it but the bleeding looks like it?s coming from between her toes and she won?t let us get anywhere near the wound without biting us. She?ll be okay for tonight, but we were wondering if there?s any vets to take her to tomorrow? Anyone have any suggestions? ED Bird
Hi Ronnijade,I'm so sorry to hear about your pups paw! I hope she's not too distressed. Try to remain calm & keep her relaxed {you'll know what's best!} If she does decide to let you near her; asses the wound & if it's not bleeding, run it under tepid water to flush out any dirt that might have gotten into it, to prevent infection, & wrap a clean, dry bandage around the paw. If it's bleeding excessively, go straight for the clean, dry bandage & apply pressure to the area {in this case, I would call the vets immediately}.Many vets are still open for emergency cases, whilst avoiding non-urgent cases & routine appointments {for both cat & dog owners, this does include neuturing, so do keep them close/indoors - particularly kittens - as it is that time of year!}I would suggest contacting the vets you're registered with.Kindest,Heather {The Wingless Bird} Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/251936-dog-injured-paw/#findComment-1414941 Share on other sites

Ronnijade
She?s calm but feeling very sorry for herself. She?s in bed with my mum right now, but she still won?t let us do anything to the injury itself ? she never bites so she must be in a bit of pain because she keeps really trying to bite us any time we go to clean or bandage it. I?ve managed to spray some antiseptic that came with our (pet) medical kit, but for now it looks like we?ll just have to wait to take her to the vet tomorrow. We found an emergency clinic in Streatham that I?m going to call in the morning. Thanks for the advice guys! Ronnijade
Hey guys! Managed to spray some more antiseptic on her this morning, she?s got a bit of a limp but she?s okay. Just feeling very sorry for herself but she?s been spoilt with lots of cooked turkey this afternoon. We have an appointment for the vet tomorrow, hopefully they?ll be able to bandage her up and maybe give her some pain relief. We looked closer at the injury this morning and it?s only a small cut but it?s right between her toes and she can?t put any weight on her foot, so not a life changing injury by any means but definitely an aggravating one. Nala says thanks for all of the advice! <3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/251936-dog-injured-paw/#findComment-1415042 Share on other sites

Plough Man
There is a possibility that a splinter or piece of glass has penetrated her foot so it is necessary to check closely and thoroughly. The best way is for one person to hold her head securely whilst another bathes the foot and inspects it. If you have a muzzle, so much the better. If you find a splinter or other foreign object then it's removal will give immediate relief and healing process will begin.
