Hello

Our band Zonderlings are a bit frustrated at the lack of South London venues for original bands to do gigs. So, we've decided to just put our own night on.

I know the manager of the Half Moon, Hearne Hill, and have played there a couple of times with a covers band I was with. The plan is that we'll hire the venue for the evening, which includes PA, and sound tech. We need 3 or 4 other bands to all come and play 30 - 45 minutes sets. Anything goes really, but original material would be good.

We'll charge a fiver or so on the door, and once our initial expenses for venue hire have been covered, whatever is left will be divided equally. We won't make a fortune, but it'll buy a few beers, and should make for a cracking evening.

Let me know if you're interested. Ideally reasonably local bands who could bring a good crowd along.

Cheers.

I know a band which are of the original Rhythym and Blues ilk, but it's all their own stiff, would that fit ?

If so I'll ask them. They've headlined 100 Club (at a night I put on).

Also, what about a young punk band, mainly their own stuff - no gobbing though, that's so 70s/80s.

    • Stewart Lee, who I have seen numerous times, played a gig 18 months ago in Peckham, turning up late and doing around 12 mins of an expected headliner slot.  He has no social media presence and is uncontactable.  I complained to the ticket agents and promoters to no avail.  Obviously I wouldn't boycott a paper due to this incident. With hard copy print declining more liberal media need support irrespective of how easy it is to pick holes.  The decline of regional and local papers has compounded the issue of so many drawing their information from the right wing/populist press, and unverified reports on social media.
