This big beautiful boy wandered in yesterday afternoon but has not moved more than a couple of feet since then. He is fine to stroke but is a little hissy if you touch his back or tail.

Wife is WFH so going to phone vets as we think he is injured and if needs be will take him to Medivet .

We are local to The Castle pub on Crystal Palace Road.

Please PM if you belong to him.

Hello,

I am said wife of FriendsOfTheTerrapin WFH.

I have made a number of calls and have been advised to wait a couple of hours for any responses to this post, but if his condition deteriorates I shall take him to Neighbourhood vets on Lordhip Lane. However, in the current crisis of Covid 19 it will be difficult to treat him if he is not microchipped and the owners cannot be found.

During the next couple of hours I shall be knocking on doors in our immediate area with a photo in the hope I can find his owners. I have no virus symptoms but will stand back from your door to ensure no virus risk to you or myself.

Nicknamed Bob, he is still very quiet and mobilising very little. He is eating, but his demeanour is very lax. We also have cats and both he and them are just ignoring each other which I feel is also and indication that he may be ill or injured.

I appreciate your assistance and should you recognise him, even if he is not yours, answering the door should you be at home would be very helpful.

Please reply or PM me if you have any information.

Many Thanks

The Cats Mutha

UPDATE:

I am afraid that door knocking did not prove very fruitful.

I have taken 'Bob' to Medivet, 509 Lordship Lane and unfortunately he is not microchipped or neutered which could explain his wondering ways. He appears to have an injury to his tail, but this does not seem to be too serious.

I have therefore brought him back home with me. We shall keep him comfortable and will renew our efforts to find his owners (should he indeed have any) tomorrow.

There is photo of him attached to the first post in this thread. Should you recognise him as a cat that hangs around in your garden or uses your cat flap to come in for a cheeky feed, then please do let me know. This will assist me in establishing his living areas and whether or not he does actually have a home.

Many thanks again for any assistance given.

Regards

The Cats Mutha

Bob looks similar to 'Bill' a large tabby which frequented our garden in Barry Road (backing onto Landells) for around a year. Used to nip in through the cat flat, eat our cat's food and sometimes I would find him asleep in the dining room. 'Bill' was not seen for around 9 months when late last year, he appeared again in our garden and in the house. Our cats ignored him and after a few days was not seen again.

Vets appear to be open for emergencies but not for routine injections.

  • 3 weeks later...

After a week or so in Celia Hammond at Lewisham, Bob has slipped away over a Rainbow Bridge...

It appears he was suffering from some form of kidney disease from which he was unable to recover in spite of the CH Vets doing their best.

RIP Big Bad Bob

    • Hi Sue. Thanks! In the end, he was found near Bawdale Rd but he’d only been around there for a few days apparently so I’m not sure where he’d been before then. I wish he could tell us! 😁 Thank you! They definitely put us through it! Yes, he’s had the once over at the vets and he’s grounded for the foreseeable! 😊
    • It’s just been standing here alone while i’m eating my lunch and no owner has seem to come for the past 10-15 mins
