Projector advice?

Hi we have been given an old projector which is clear when it shows light images but has no definition when a scene is not bright....does anyone know what causes this and whether we can do anything about it? Or any local businesses we could take it to to take a look?

It?s likely that the lamp in it is not bright enough to show the dark levels in darker scenes the quality will be dependent on a few things

Light output of the projector this is also affected by the age and usage of the lamp as they degrade over time.

Darkness of the room

Lightness of the projection surface, it?s not always better to project onto white wall, something a bit darker can help
