Eeeees
I?ve been trying to keep a bee alive not sure if it?s a queen for the last couple of days....I live at the top of Upland Road. Does anyone know of any bee keepers in the area who might be missing a queen bee? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/249594-bees/ Share on other sites

ponderwoman
It won't be a Queen bee as they only leave the hive once to mate and possibly once to swarm. Wrong time of year for both.More probable it is an overwintered bumble bee queen, especially if it's furry. Rotten weather for an early foray but they will often venture out to look for a suitable nest site. Plenty of nectar out there for them.Great you are interested enough to care. If it is able to fly you could let it go and it will find some shelter if the weather is not good and then create a whole new colony this year. seenbeen
Dandelion flowers are the first food for the emerging starving bees in the spring so it is a good idea to let them grow Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/249594-bees/#findComment-1406598 Share on other sites
