I have had a bit of an epiphany (not sure i can spell that) and have decided to retrain to be a baby swimming instructor partly as in my area (not ed anymore) there is a huge demand and not enough classes available, and mainly because i have been a SAHM for the past 4 years and can't bear the thought of going back full time to what i used to do. I am loving the summer holiday and want to be around after school and in the holidays.

Just wondered if anyone on here did this or has done this and could give me any advice. I am signed up for the relevant training courses but it's going to take til next March to get qualified so looking for experience/voluntary work etc I can get in the meantime.

thanks in advance

sorry bit random post thought was worth a punt!

If you are looking to volunteer to get experience I would contact schools. Most of them take kids for lessons locally and because a whole class is being taught at the same time which is hard with different levels there would probably be scope for you to help with the class or take the good or a fearful swimmer and do your own mini class with them or you could offer to take people's kids swimming on the forum (could even earn some money!). As I am sure you know it is hard to get lessons locally so people might be delighted to have you take their kids swimming and teach them what you know? You would need to get CRB checked of course. Another thought is to contact the Albrighton Centre Youth Club. They take kids swimming every week and again you could volunteer your skills there for experience.

Sorry have just re-read your post and realised you say BABY and no longer ED but I am guessing you would need to learn to teach at all levels?

Good luck.
