Hi All, Our 9 month old is wearing us out! For the past 5 months - ever since he started teething - he has woken 5+ times a night. We've got a good evening routine and he goes down by 7.30 in his own cot without much trouble. He usually has a good first stretch and then wakes every hour to 2 hours until about 5.30 until he settles into calm sleep until 7.30 am. Though our 3 1/2 year old is up by 6am, so we don't benefit much from that. He's been teething non-stop. Current count is 6, but 2 more are on the way. I'm still breastfeeding and he doesn't take a bottle. We co-slept initially and he still ends up in our bed or one of our 'musical mattresses' with me at some point during the night. Any/all ideas and tips much appreciated!
No tips I'm afraid but we have a similar situation! My 9.5 month old has always been an erratic sleeper, we've had periods of quite good sleep e.g. 1 quick wake up and even a few 10 hour stretches but at the moment it's awful. 4 teeth so far and 2 more about to break through. E doesn't wake to feed a lot but will wake up and be awake (i.e. crawling around bed, talking, shouting etc) for ages. I'm breastfeeding too but E isn't bothered about feeding in the night, in fact now I avoid it as it seems to wake him up even more (maybe he thinks it's morning??). He has also been waking at 5/5.30 every morning then drifting off again just when I need to get up with toddler. Urgh! I'm going back to work next month so really hoping it just resolves itself. At the moment we cope by co sleeping half of the night/bed hopping! I hope someone else has some tips! If you fancy sharing a (jug of) coffee and comparing notes give me a shout!
I think it was around this same age that we had a lot of trouble as well (TBH, we've never had a great time with Little Saff's sleep). We introduced a bottle of formula at night, then implemented a formula to water fade with some shush-patting. It moved us from 5+ nightly wakings to 1-2 wakings. xx

    • I look at some of the things I did and said in my younger days with embarrassment.  Some of the behaviours crossed lines that most of us would consider appropriate for today's world.  I can say I was a product of my time and my upbringing, where it was seen OK to joke about minorities, gay people and transgender people.  Much of this we would have got from popular TV series..   None of what I said and did was intended to be offensive.  It was juvenile and/or ignorant, and what many of my peer group did. But I recognise that it was wrong.  My standards of behavior continue to evolve, as the world changes around me, and whist there are some things alien to me, I try to understand better. Nothing I did as a teenager or into my 20s comes anywhere near what Farage is purported to have done and said.  If there is half a grain of truth in it then where is his apology, and where is he setting the record straight that this is not the way we should behave?

    • Not sure if you've read the link but Crick's reporting for his 2002 book is different to the Guardian's reporting for its article last week.
    • I have seen the Muffin man.
