maxtedc
I (almost) daren't say this out loud but... could it be that all those travel fears were for nothing? I've had no problems getting in nor getting home via London Bridge. Admittedly I don't have to tube it anywhere.Work colleagues have all been pleasantly surprised too. In fact I'm yet to find ayone who has experienced any problems... How has everyone else fared? Lowlander
Took me 35 minutes to drive from ED to St John's Wood at 1930 last night. Most of the games lanes were open to all traffic. The trains and Jubilee line to Canary Wharf have also been eerily quiet. OD
Like everyone else, havent seen any travel chaos... think that will change though, when the track and field events start; as more people try to get to the stadium! Michael Palaeologus
Some Olympic Park events will have finished by then, so numbers will probably even themselves out.The major change is the reduction of commuters because of holidays, changed travel patterns or people working from home. What might cause problems is if numbers of people see that travel links are OK and start travelling as normal. BB100
I expect the real test will be during the paralympics when the children and teachers go back to school and people come back from their hols. Hold tight for Sept 5th! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24811-commuting-through-the-olympics/#findComment-564765 Share on other sites
hedges
It was fine for me. Got the 6:15 tube from Brixton to Oxford Circus, changed for the central line to get to Stratford, DLR from there to Excel.I actually ended up arriving half an hour earlier than I planned. Ladygooner
Herded like cattle tonight to get to platforms 8-16 - totally unnecessary in my opinion since there was plenty of room on the concourse and most people can go straight to the platforms Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24811-commuting-through-the-olympics/#findComment-564880 Share on other sites
the-e-dealer
The Millennium Bug DID happen but in very isolated patches. One Hospital had the year 4000 displayed on its appointment system. However many problems were averted by the checking of millions of lines of code and corrected the od bit that required it. I know I made a fortune out of it. Moos
Feel quite sorry for the volunteers at London Bridge, obviously hoping to help merry foreign Games-goers, rather than flint-faced commuters.
