From looking at the app - buses replace trains this weekend on both the Peckham Rye to London Bridge line and on the London Overground. I've found the info on the overground closure on TFL but can't see anything about the London Bridge one on either TFL or southeastern trains (this mentions closure on victoria - bromley / lewisham lines but nothing about london bridge)

Has anybody seen anything at the station about this? I cycle so don't use the station during the week. Just wondering if the app is correct or not. If so it's most annoying to be closing so many lines affecting the same station on the same day.

Yup, the app is usually correct. I?ve checked and no trains from ED to London Bridge this weekend. Looks like no overground from Peckham to Clapham Junction either. I usually go to Denmark Hill and make my way to London Victoria when this happens or Herne Hill into central London, as I find the a Rail Replacement fairly unreliable - plus it can take ages!

Forest Hill or Crofton Park trains also up the spout this weekend

The engineering works are between Streatham and Peckham Rye which takes out Tulse Hill - that's the major junction handling everything from Streatham, Streatham Hill and West Norwood. Take out Tulse Hill and you've lost three entire lines.

For anyone cycling, the route from East Dulwich to the Elephant is very good, direct and safe. Loads of parking when you get there. I shall probably do it like that tomorrow as long as the weather isn't too vile.

It's here: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/140137 -- three miles.

On Saturday, there is only a 30 minute train service to London Bridge from Forest Hill, Honor Oak Park and New Cross Gate due to engineering works. Sunday trains run every 15 mins from those stations, although they may be affected by Storm Ciara.

Peckham Rye sees Victoria trains running only every 30 mins, while Denmark Hill has three trains per hour to Victoria with buses replacing Thameslink and Overground trains.

You can take the 63 bus direct to Southwark Tube for the Jubilee line, from the Peckham Rye side of ED. Check Blackfriars Road is open again after waterworks, otherwise E&c and 10 mins walk. I do this regularly and on a Sunday it?s half an hour from the top of Forest Hill Road and easiest / less changes

It is quite normal, and in fact has been so ever since I've been in SE London... over 15 years. There's always a reasonable chance that trains won't be running on the weekends.

Would really struggle living here without a car, TBH. Failing that, buses are better than nothing... just...

There are some emergency repairs overnight 14-15 Feb to the line between Peckham Rye and Nunhead. According to https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/242647.aspx they're scheduled to be done by 06:00, but it might be prudent to check on http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/ldbboard/dep/PMR/NHD/To that there's been no overrun.

Looks ok now, Saturday 10:05

    • Surprised at how many people take the 'oooh it's great it got approved, something is better than nothing' view. This is exactly Southwark council's approach, pandering to greedy developers for the absolute bare minimum of social and affordable housing. It's exactly why, under their leadership, only a fraction of social and affordable housing has been built in the borough - weirdly Mccash chose to highlight their own failures in his 'near unprecedented' (yet unbiased 😆) submission. All the objectors i have met support redevelopment, to benefit those in need of homes and the community - not change it forever. The council could and should be bolder, demand twice the social and affordable housing in these schemes, and not concede to 8 storeys of unneeded student bedsits. If it is a question of viability, publically disclose the business plan to prove how impossible it might be to turn a profit. Once the thing is built these sites can never be used for social or affordable housing. The council blows every opportunity, every time. Its pathetic. Developers admitted the scale was, in this instance, not required for viability. The student movements data seemed completely made up. The claim that 'students are taking up private rentals' was backed up with no data. There is empty student housing on denmark hill, needs to be fixed up but it's there already built. The council allows developers years to build cosy relationships with planners such that the final decision is a formality - substantiated objections are dismissed with wooly words and BS. Key meetings and consultations are scheduled deliberately to garner minimal engagement or objection. Local councillors, who we fund, ignore their constituents concerns. Those councillors that dare waiver in the predetermination are slapped down. Not very democratic. They've removed management and accountability by having no nomination agreement with any of the 'many london universities needing accommodation' - these direct lets MAKE MORE MONEY. A privately run firm will supposedly ensure everyone that those living there is actually a student and adheres to any conduct guidelines. There's no separation to residents - especially to ones on their own development. Could go on... We'll see how many of the 53 social/affordable units that we're all so happy to have approved actually get built.
