Sally Eva
This ride starts in Canada Water opposite the Tube station. There are lifts at Canada Water Station and walk-on access to the rail system at East Dulwich Station. Take the train to Peckham Rye Station, stay on the same platform (platform 2) and take the Overground heading east towards Dalston Junction. Get off before you get there. There's a map of the same journey by bike here: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/131783. I recommend cycle.travel for route-finding. It's very friendly and little technical know-how is required. Right, back to the ride. This starts at 10am from Deal Porter Square, opposite Canada Water Station, SE16 7AR and lasts two hours. It's an easy paced ride along the Thames cycle path heading east to see how far we can all get before turning back. The Thames path is now all open again after building work. It includes some of the best cycle track you will ever see, but also some very narrow bits. We hope to get to the Ecology Park. Our route joins the Thames Path at Greenland Passage and runs past the Cutty Sark and on round the peninsula. It returns across the peninsula to the blue bridge over the A102, rejoining the Thames Path briefly at Enderby Wharf and continuing through the Naval College and back past Cutty Sark. For final stretch riders will turn inland at the Deptford Creek foot bridge and follow Cycleway 1 for a mile before crossing to the Surrey Canal Linear Park, round the top of Greenland Dock back to Canada Water. There's lots to see on this flat route. The route map is here: This series of Saturday morning rides is organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk . We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign and their website is here: [lcc.org.uk]. You can contact us on [email protected]; tweet us @southwarkcycle or text Bruce on 07729 279 945. Or better still, just turn up. Everything we do is free and open to all. Welcome aboard.
