That's me. I have my Mardy Face On.

Off to Spain next week.

What pisses me off is that that is a decidedly non-inclusive games. Its all about money.

Agreed. I might feel differently if I felt I could access the thing, but it's just happening around me.

And for the record, it's not just the 2 weeks that will effect me, I'll be dealing with this well in to October, so there!

Opening ceremony full dress rehearsal - check

Torch through Southwark - check

Tickets in hand for for an event every day for the next week for sports I don't know the rules of and have never even watched on telly - check

Role on the archery...I can't wait!

What Strafer said - I failed on my ticket apps but have a few events/parties etc, we are going to a paralympics and will go up for the marathon. Torch was down the road a couple of hours ago for free and most people say they enjoyed this, pubs will be showing it, etc, etc ,

Anyway, my original point was at the moany old cynical miserablists WHO ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE (especially t'internet) moaning.....We don't all feel like you miserablle tw*ts and I'm just letting you know like....not a one sided dialogue

Huzzah for the Olympics

The only etiquette you need to know is not to invade the pitch*...

As any sportsperson will tell you, it's the taking part that counts (the calories)...

To emphasise my point - love the sport just not the sackfull of shit that comes with it - just caught the last 20 mins of Japan beating Spain at Hampden Pk. with Spain doing a Holland and trying to kick lumps out of them. That was nice. And nice that it was in Scotland where they will shortly be in need of some competitive football to watch. B)

I remember clearly the moment seven years ago when it was announced that we had won them games. I remember thinking how lucky we were. I have passed the Olympic site many times over the last few years and have delighted at its progress. I had a truly enjoyable experience today watching the torch pass through Coldharbour Lane, the atmosphere was electric!

I can't comprehend an opportunity to show case the city where we live ( and I wasn't born here) better. Simply can't be done.

Remember, Paris were the favorites to win the games. Would you really prefer to sit down tomorrow night to watch that scenario?

I'm not knowledgeable about financial matters but it's hard to believe it wont give some boost to the economy.

just checked that out. Now imbedded!

Huzzah.

The Olympics, is that what?s on? So far all I?ve seen is screen after screen filled with the faces of festering pieces of excrement in government who seem to be trying to one up each other.

Oh and that really keen person. You know the one who was team leader, blackboard monitor, prefect, cheerleader etc. at school. You know, they now work in HR or maybe marketing. Well they?ve multiplied exponentially, probably through some sort of mitosis (see the slides on the group email for instructions) and now they?re fucking everywhere.

I think you're on the wrong thread - this one is for loving the event. There's another thread for the gloomy barstewards whinging.

    • I would check that you have in fact been switched over to paying on usage rather than the old fixed rate system with an annual increase. We had a meter installed 18 months ago but had to request paying on metered consumption.
    • Does anyone know if the above is taking place this year. Can't seem to find it mentioned anywhere?   Simon
    • Hello, with the weather improving, I thought I would flag up the free access to leisure centres in southwark. 1. If you are experiencing poor mental and physical health and live in the borough, the GP exercise referral service allows up to three months of free use of leisure centers. There are three levels of support, and you can even refer yourself. read more for more info: Kickstart, Active Boost and Cardiactive - Everyone Health Southwark   2. If you don't have challenges with physical ands mental health, you can access the free swim and gym for a year. for more info: Free swim & gym eligibility requirements – Leisure Facilities in Southwark 3. Are you a blue badge holder? you can apply for the AD Permit, a virtual payment which allows disabled drivers to part on single and double yellow lines without the need of displaying a blue bae in the windscreen. there is also information for disabled residents to use the Low Traffic Neighborhood (LTNs) around the borough.  Exemptions for Blue Badge holders | Southwark Council Want more information? use the councils website: www.southwark.gov.uk
    • I am about to tomorrow. I only just realised after asking some neighbours today. Agreed that smaller households should of course pay less, like discounted council tax bills for those on benefits for example. However as our bills have gone up astronomically generally in the last few years, I do feel hardworking families are being penalised... also avid gardeners will be penalised in the summer when gardens are watered no doubt.
