Woodworm Specialist Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We are currently selling our house and a surveyor has picked up evidence of woodworm in our floorboards (past or present is tbc). Do you know of a company who could check this out?

Obviously we are concerned that the specialist will be hoping to get business and may over-egg any evidence and treatment/replacements needed. Any recommendations or experience with local companies would be greatly received.

Thanks in advance!

Not able to recommend anyone, but I just thought I'd share this: the excellent wood floor sander who restored our floorboards to their former glory told me that he has never seen active woodworm in all his 30 years experience of restoring (mainly) Victorian floorboards. And that any evidence of inactive woodworm that he has seen has never been anywhere near enough to threaten the integrity of the wood. He advised us very strongly against having our floors treated in any way.

Good luck with house sale.

    • We went there yesterday for lunch, which was really delicious and excellent value. A starter plus a main is £11.95 for their "lunchtime special". Just a main is £8.95. We had excellent gyozas to start, then I had pad thai and my partner had a stir fry, both with tofu. They were large helpings,  freshly cooked, with fresh veg. There is the option to have chicken or beef (prawns are £2 extra) Also they now have Thai beer (Singha) on draught or in bottles (previously it was being your own alcohol). The service was also good. We were sorry and surprised not to see more people in there, particularly as there was a match on. It is really worth the short walk from Lordship Lane!
