buggie
Just had the misfortune to have to whizz to Sainsburys... it quite amazes me how it can be open from first thing monday thru to late saturday and yet today's the day everyone wants to go, spent longer getting in and out of the carpark than did either in the shop or travelling there/back!!Would probably help if the parking attendant was actually in the carpark helping direct the cars coming out of various turnings - found him just outside of the carpark helpfully pointing out (the blinking obvious) way towards the traffic lights.... as I went past found myself opening my window and saying this to him!Ahhhhh..... feel better for getting that off my chest! x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/ Share on other sites
pablogrande
Sainsburys are open from first thing monday thru to late saturday so you could go then instead of Sundays. ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72209 Share on other sites

ChavWivaLawDegree
You could use something like this:http://www.bicycletrailers.com/assets/product_images/alternate/300/102196000000000.jpgI have one and it fits a lot of shopping in.Or one of these:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a2/Bicycle-trailer-for-outdoor-trekking.jpg/800px-Bicycle-trailer-for-outdoor-trekking.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72229 Share on other sites
????
If I was the attendant I'd have pointed out something along the lines of...." we are open from first thing monday thru to late saturday and yet today's the day everyone wants to go" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72230 Share on other sites
AllforNun
The problem with the bikes though Chav is that it is very hard to dog in the sainsburys car park with those things. You can barely get the lids closed and you really do feel the cold. ChavWivaLawDegree
I find it ok, and it stops me buying stuff I don't need. I get too hot if anything and have to undo my cycle jacket after a while to cool off. When I am going to get a lot of stuff tho, I take my dog with me, and he helps by pulling me up Crystal Palace Road. I can do it ok without him, but he loves pulling stuff and it gives him a workout at the same time as helping me with the load! ????
I'd be careful of saying it's 'hard to dog in the sainsbury's car park' on a public forum Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72241 Share on other sites
ChavWivaLawDegree
Haha, yeh it's a bit too busy for all that! Might get quieter after dark though! And for the bike-riding shopper, what about this fab trailer/shopper combo?http://www.bikehod.com/images/bike-hod/bikehod.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72244 Share on other sites
ChavWivaLawDegree
And for the doggers, not much privacy (not that you want a lot) but a lot more comfortable than your regular trailer:http://bikeforpeace.org/images/bike_move-nov_2005/bike_move_nov_2005_boulder.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72247 Share on other sites
buggie
normally go on my day's off in the week, but hadn't realised until today I'm working 10-10 tomorrow so needed to get stuff for my lunch and dinner (can't rely on hospital canteen for edible meals, or to have breaks that conincide with them being open!). Bike would be good, but legs knackered after my 5 mile run this morning!! Louisa
I have NEVER had an issue parking at the Sainsbury's car park, until December 28th 2007 in the mid afternoon. I was horrified to see people dodging queues and being ignorant towards fellow car park users by driving like maniacs. I very rarely choose to shop at Sainsburys as I feel i'm being ripped off half the time, but when I last did I was horrified. I prefer ASDA in Clapham these days. Not often do you find a cheap arse historically northern store with a choice of toilet rolls. Louisa. lozzyloz
CWALD, the Sofa Bike makes sense but a uni-cycle with trailer is suicide! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72259 Share on other sites
ChavWivaLawDegree
Before anyone gets injured and tries to blame it on me, the first 3 trailers are not suitable for dogging or uni-cycling but are fine for shopping and the last trailer may be suitable for dogging, waiting in a long queue or having a nap, but not uni-cycling. Ladygooner
Can I just add that when you are driving into the car park look out for the people that are coming out of the car park and turning right so we can get to our homes in Abbotswood Road. Sainsbos are supposedly trying to get a mini roundabout installed before any major accidents occur but six months later and we are still waiting. Shu.Kurimu.Sensei
If the parking attendant was a rather tall black geezer then cut him some bloody slack - he's autistic, does his best and has been with Sainsburys for a long time, I worked at Peckham Sainsburys while at 6th form and he was there then and is a very nice bloke indeed. peckhamasbestos
I went this weekend, peak time too. mlteenie
Why aren't people sensible and either park near the recycling bit ('ooh, that's so far away...') and walk fifty metres further, order online or go at 6 in the morning. Or indeed cycle with panniers and go more often! Sue
What I want to know is, why Sainsburys have a sign outside saying they're open twenty four hours, then underneath that it says the times they're ACTUALLY open - erm, not twenty four hours.Well I guess they ARE open twenty four hours, just not twenty four consecutive hours, rofl :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2453-carpark-mayhem-sainsburys-lounged/#findComment-72364 Share on other sites

In my view, this could prevent the incidents that happen at their front door when people (the ones who can't or don't understand the signs of the road) try to get in after the shop has closed.
