In this case they realised their outgoings post the proposed rent increase would exceed their income, so it became a no brainer and their was no point increasing prices just to pay the rent increase. Presumably they would have known three to six months in advance this was coming, waited to after Christmas and announced the closure. Perhaps the business may have been able to continue as a wholesaler located elsewhere, however it appears that the owners have decided to take a break from business.
