I am doing another run down to Piraeus Greece again this Christmas & I will be at The Ruskin park Christmas fair on this Saturday 14th selling Christmas trees & collecting any clothes & toys you May have to give away to clear away for all those new clothes & toys Santa will be hopefully bringing you this Christmas:)))

The last run to Thesaloniki was a long long way & a bit troublesome, so I?m going to Piraeus south of Athens this year.

There are terrible problems as more & more refugees arrive in the country & the other European countries will not allow them through!! So, Greece, whose economy is in a bad way is trying to deal with this crisis & could do with all the help it could get, so I?m doing my little bit on behalf of the wonderful people of Dulwich & surrounding areas, who were SO generous last time.

So, all clothes & toys worn or new will be gratefully received & you can buy a beautiful tree at the same time & enjoy the fair too.

I am working with the charity ? A drop in the Ocean ? who will coordinate the distribution of your kind offerings .

I am also looking for any donations towards the journey as I forgot to do this last time !!! But one kind person made a kind donation that helped out a great deal. All donations will be recorded & accounted for.

I will try to do another collection point & will try to work where, as Sainsburys kindly asked me to leave the last time :)))

I thank you in advance for your very welcome generosity & will let you know how it goes

Please contact me if you need any further information

    • The English have always been naturally self-deprecating. Having a pop at politicians of all hues is just an extension of that. It's like holding a mirror up to ourselves. We get what we voted for. Shit. Ever since Peter Cook et al lampooned MacMillan, through to Mike Yarwood, Yes Minister, Spitting Image and The Thick of It, they've felt far happier taking the piss out of politicians rather than praising them. It's funnier and, frankly, far easier. I don't expect a cabinet to accurately reflect society at large, but people are becoming less engaged with politics. 2024 was the lowest turnout in 20 years, despite there being an awful lot for people to be motivated to vote about. Maybe that can be put down to the rise of a politico class/wonkocracy who planned their career path to be being a politician at the same age most of us still thought that being an astronaut, princess or dinosaur was a perfectly reasonable career choice.  I just find them uninspiring and slightly 'Stepford Wives'. It's like being governed by a gaggle of management consultants with Master's degrees in 'Public Policy'. This cabinet is pretty homogeneous in it's background, as well. Out of the 'Big Four', three went to Oxford. Three represent 'inner' London constituencies. Two are lawyers, two are 'economists'. Their total experience outside of the public sector and politics is less than 20 years. That's not a great breadth of knowledge. There's also the Minister for Business who has never actually worked in a business and a Minister for Rural Affairs who represents beautiful, bucolic Croydon. That does seem silly enough to take the piss out of.
    • Hi Alexandra, I am an artist and I have friends who do portraits, both as commissions and otherwise.  I would be happy to forward your details to them if you could fill in a couple of details about your requirements. I am writing here in case other people are curious about how to begin the commissioning process and what to have in mind at the beginning.  What is your budget?  How large would you like the work? Do you have a particular medium in mind (oil, acrylic, canvas, board, paper)? Do you know what style of painting you would like? Timeframe? (this one is obvious as you want it for this Christmas) Remember to keep in mind that materials may be an extra cost, Postage and framing will be an extra cost.  All the best,  Brigid
    • Andy is an absolute gem! Incredibly kind, polite, and always reliable, he’s my go-to for any jobs - I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. Recently, I had some leaking external pipes that I was quite worried about. Andy came over promptly, assessed the issue, and fixed it efficiently, putting my mind at ease. It’s rare to find someone so dependable and skilled who also genuinely cares about doing a great job. I highly recommend Andy to anyone in need of a trustworthy and professional handyman. Thank you, Andy, for your fantastic work!
    • Thames water did it. Replaced pipe up to the property  that included where the leak was. Installed a cut off tap as well. took a couple of hours. no charge
