Curiously, the AVP Sports website doesn't say who the organisers are. The man who appears to run it (I think his first name is Mike) was very rude and patronising to my wife when she raised some concerns about the level of supervision in the swimming pool - I wonder if he has a problem talking to women. I did have a child who went to Scamps at the Dulwich Prep (which has terrific facilities) and he thoroughly enjoyed it, but dealing with Mike has been very unpleasant and we've decided not to send any of our children there.

Yes, another vote for Scamps. My son, who is generally not very enthusiastic at all about organised extra-curricular activities in any form, really believes that the main priority of the organisers is for all the children to have lots of fun. I've been delighted to find some childcare that he actually enjoys.

I was going to post about the fact that today (second day my 4 yo twins attended with their big brother) all 3 of them were miffed they had to leave at 4 and weren't booked in for the late session

And boy twin really isn't someone who has ever been keen on organised activities, my twins don't start reception till September

It is very well organised and calm quiet atmosphere I think

Like the idea if it being calm....or rather my eldest would. She tried the JAGS one but found it too full on - rugby really wasn't her thing! Will try Scamps next time around. Do they do things at half-term or is it summer only?

We tried JAGS, Artastic and Crafty Cooks this year and Crafty Cooks was definitely the favourite. Hannah was great with my youngest (only 4) and there were games I understand and crafty stuff, so not only cooking. Just a shame that the full week course (rather than short classes) wasn't closer to home.

We've done alternate weeks at Gumboots (Darrell Road 8-6pm) and Holiday Drop off at Dulwich College (extended day 8-5pm).

Number one daughter's loved it - mostly swimming and trampolining everyday (at HDO) with a bit of dodge ball. PLenty of 'boy' sports too but she preferred these.

Gumboots is lovely too. The minders are all really gentle and lots of fun had there too - bowling at E&C, Peckham Cinema etc.

Holiday Drop Off Sports Camp has added another week

The Dulwich College HDO Summer Camp is still available to book online

As Holiday Drop Off was inundated with requests to run another week, we have decided that we will now be continuing the camp until the 31st August 2012. Please note, that HDO will not be running on the 27th of August as this is a Bank Holiday.

As we are one of the few activity camps running until this later date, we would suggest booking early to avoid missing a place. HDO has hit record numbers this summer reaching out to hundreds of new faces, as well as welcoming back the camps more regular attendees. Week 7 is now bookable online

All dates are now bookable at www.holidaydropoff.com

Both of my daughters went to the HDO club in June. I was slightly anxious as they'd never been to a holiday club before, and they are quite shy girls. I don't know why I was anxious, they had the most amazing time and wanted to go every day thereafter! Their favourite activities were trampoling and the water ball/pool fun. The staff are very friendly and approachable. It was clear the children at the club adored them. We're all looking forward to spending many more fun days with the HDO team in the summer holidays. Many thanks for providing a high quality, fun club for our children

ABOUT HDO

Holiday Drop Off is a great way for children to learn new sports in a fun and exciting environment. HDO believe that sport should be enjoyed by all and have created a sports camp for children between the ages of Rising 5 -14 years old.

HDO is a sports camp which is taught by coaches of various sporting backgrounds, helping develop sporting techniques or simply introducing children to sports they are yet to learn.

Places are limited so its best to book in advance. Although you can turn up on the day (depending on availability) HDO have great discounts when booking online.

Parents Comments:

My two children, aged 9 and 4 absolutely love Holiday Drop-Off. They enjoy the variety of activities on offer and meeting other children. They feel safe and secure in a familiar environment and always ask to go back each holiday. The staff are warm, friendly and welcoming and my children are always delighted to see them again. I have no hesitation in recommending Holiday Drop-Off.

    • Why on earth is there so much interest, and negativity, after a 100 days of a Labour government when we had 1000s of days of dreadful government before this with hardly a chat on this Website?  What is it that is suddenly so much greater interest? Here's part of a list of what they have done in a 100 days - it's from a Labour MP so obviously there is some bias, and mainly new Bills so yet to deliver/put into law.  This reminds me of the US election where the popular view was that Biden had achieved nothing, rather than leading the recovery after Covid, a fairer tax system, housing, supporting workers, dealing with community unrest following high profile racist incidents,  So if we think Starmer is ineffective and Labour incompetent then we are all going to believe it? I do feel sick after seeing Clarkson on Newsnight, playing to the gallery.  Surely Trump must have a high profile role for him on the environment and climate change
    • Hi looking for a shed for my allotment. Can pick up
    • But do you not understand how tough farming is, especially post-Brexit when some of the subsidies were lost and costs have increased massively yet the prices farmers can charge has not? On the BBC News tonight they said pig farming costs had gone up 54% since 2019, cow farming costs up 44% and cereal costs up 43%. The NFU said that the margins are on average 0.5% return on capital. Land and buildings are assets that don't make money until you sell them...it's what you do with them that makes money and farms are struggling to make money and so many farms are generational family businesses so never realise the assets (one farmers on the news said his farm had been in the family since 1822) but will have to to pay tax for continuing the family business. On another news item tonight there was a short piece saying the government has said that 50,000 more pensioners will be forced into relative poverty (60% of the average income) due to the Winter Fuel Allowance removal which will rise to 100,000 more by 2027. James Murray from the Treasury was rolled out on Newsnight to try and defend that and couldn't. You can't give doctors 20%+ and push more pensioners into poverty as a result.  The problem for Labour is the court of public opinion will judge them and right now the jury is out after a series of own-goals, really poor communication and ill-thought-out idealogical policies. And don't ever annoy the farmers.....;-)
