Mick Mac
He can do it. And for those who don't want him to win for whatever reason, it will be another 50 years before we see this again. So get behind him. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24386-cmon-andy/ Share on other sites
Salsaboy
Even though he's bound to get beaten, I do think this is the year that he deserves to win, diamond jubilee etc. Just like Virginia Wade won it in the Queens silver jubilee year. So....... c'mon Andy, you miserable git. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24386-cmon-andy/#findComment-558639 Share on other sites

Mick Mac
Faldo was a similar personality and its the determination that is needed to achieve. His dour Scottish accent doesn't help. Asset
He's not miserable - he's a laconic Scot with dry humour which most people don't get. There are plenty of vids of him larking about with interviewers and making jokes. If you only ever watch tennis for two weeks a year then you're not really going to see the whole picture.Let's face it, you've just come of court after a gruelling 3hour battle and you're expected to perform to the camera to make the public feel comfortable about you being a happy media friendly person? who gives a toss really - it should be about the sportsmanship of which there is plenty with AM.It is unlikely he will beat Federer today, but he has beaten him several times before so it's not impossible. I will be cheering him on this afternoon. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24386-cmon-andy/#findComment-558660 Share on other sites

*Bob*
He's basically Ivan Lendl, isn't he? The ultimate acknowledgement of which being Lendl seeking him out as a coaching student - and Murray believing Lendl to be the man to help him. Otta
Don't care either way. Good luck to him, as Federer is arrogant, but I won't swell with British pride if he wins, and if he was playing Nadal I'd cheer Nadal because he's way more entertaining than any of them. Mick Mac
The post match interview was a brave and humbling experience. It was similar to Rory McIlroy after the Masters debacle. It takes a lot of courage to face the music after such a disappointment. It is why these sports people compete with each other for the prize of being the very best.
