Me too. No interest whatsoever in the corrupt, overblown mess that it will be. Or that annoying clown Danny Boyle and his stupid ideas.

Isn't that a little extreme if the fizzing fails?

I would recommend a rhubarb smoothie (also perfect as a humbug substitute if one is feeling non-committal; e.g. rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb... ad infinitum)

It would be good if the games were set permenantly in its birthplace of Greece and when the Olympic apartments were not in use they could be used for holidaymakers.

That way Greece would have a chance to survive its current dire straits and become a noted place in the world and maybe pay back that greedy I.M.F.

The rest of the world can be safe from the disruption and distruction that comes with the Olympic bandwaggon.

But will the people that have this as their biggest moneyspinner relinquish this opportunity to Greece its true home.

Thanks Chippy- got there no hold ups-A4 route. I was passed by several official cars though- all BMWs painted in garish colours. Coming back the centre of London was hilarious (at midnight) lorries and men everywhere shifting barriers and plastic walls and loading stuff onto lorries. There were some sitting around tables with large parasols up on traffic islands- very surreal in the middle of the night.

I totally agree with you Tarot.

I'm liking most of it...

Though I do get distracted with certain design/style details

(mind you that applies to pretty much everything I see/do)

For instance; what's with those arm sleeve things with the vest tops (even a guy from CK Rep had some on) Not sure on those

I really-do-not-dig the team GB head bands, they're a no-no

And i'm liking the socks to the knee thing, looks a bit bonkers but some carry it off

Also, some of the eastern european /russian girls favour a bit of harsh peroxide hair-do

(slightly retro hooker with a light Myra Hindley thrown into the mix )

The silly airbrush nails on sprinters are so-over

Hair ribbons rock

Yeah !

I haven't watched any of it and don't intend to. Everytime I hear any of it at a distance there is some weirdo hysterically screaming at whomever is doing their thing and I just want to wring their neck. The one benefit is the distinct lack of traffic outside of the Olympic venues, and a visible increase in police patrol vehicles.

Could it be that all these anti-Olympic posters are only feeling this way because they couldn't get tickets?

I was lucky enough to go to an event where we won a silver medal. Since then I seem to be suffering from Olympic fever! I can't get enough of it & am watching TV at every opportunity, cheering on Team GB & feeling proud to be British.

Being there, wrapped in my Union Jack flag surrounded by thousands of other supporters, had such an effect on me that I'm now watching sports that I've never been interested in before.

Not sure I'd have felt the same if I hadn't actually attended.

Being allocated the tickets made me feel part of it all, so I was seeing the whole games experience as something to look forward to, rather than an inconvenience.

Maybe we should do away with all spectator events? Live theatre?...bunch of la-di-da fruit salads prancing about like tits. Music? Well, its just uneccessary noise innit. When I'm down the pub I like to discuss the minutiae of my day including the contents of my bellybutton, the declining quality of tiling grout and the combined weight of all my toenail clippings. Whats wrong with opium anyway? I find it rather moreish.

    • Well yes.  But only up to a point eu countries have had to spend a LOT of money to accommodate English madness  - and has had to deal with years of incoherent positioning.  It has destabilised the EU as a group - or has at the very least distracted it and consumed bandwidth  which is why Putin was so pro-Brexit. Which enabled other subsequent events - it’s hard to imagine the world as it is now without Brexit.  A stronger EU.  Uk not a mess and in its own after multiple elections and way more prime ministers than 9 years could possibly allow   a stronger united front
