Jones1975
Hi there I?m coming back to the area from abroad and I am wondering whether to rent a flat in the Rosendale school catchment or in the Dulwich Infants catchment? Can anyone advise on whichschool is better? Many thanks! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/243224-infant-schools-which-is-best/ Share on other sites
hammerman
I hope you get some advice from parents of children already at the schools. It's very hard as both schools have not had an Ofsted visit for a while (around 6 years for Rosendale and 9 years for Dulwich Infants). The average for childminders/nurseries/schools in the area for an Ofsted inspection is around 3 years and they are all inspected under the same framework. goldilocks
Think both are good and people are happy with both. Consider what you'll do at 7 though if you select DVIS? Ie if you'll continue to rent in the area and will be close enough to Dulwich Hamlet for juniors, then fine. If you'll move further away that might not work out as well. There's no automatic transfer between the Infants and the Hamlet, so you reapply during year 2 for year 3.If you have the chance to go and see the schools, it would probably be best before selecting - if not pick the one that will be easiest to get to / from? Renata Hamvas
Both schools and all other primary schools in the Dulwich area are good. I would second what Goldilocks says that if your child goes to DVI you need to consider distance to Dulwich Hamlet if that is where you would like your child to go for Juniors. DVI is small as it's infants only and Rosendale is a larger than average (3 form entry) primary. Also DVI is a faith (Church of England) school and Rosendale is a community school run by the Lambeth. Also be aware that you will need to apply in the LA you live in, you can (and should) apply to 6 local schools in order of preference and the closing date if your child is 4 before the 31st August 2020 is 15th January 2020.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/243224-infant-schools-which-is-best/#findComment-1387624 Share on other sites

hammerman
I'm surprised by Renata's information and hope you get your choice of school in the area sorted. scareyt
It depends what suits you, both are good schools. By local reputation, DVI is very faith oriented and Rosendale is quite arty/alternative. I would guess that most people would be drawn to one or the other on looking around.
