pattythe1st
I'm thinking of setting up a new playgroup in our area, as I've decided not to return to work yet but also have the desire to be busy. What are your thoughts on a new playgroup, do you think There is room for another one in Ed?Many thanksAlice Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24179-setting-up-a-new-playgroup/ Share on other sites
Strawbs
I think there is always room for a good reasonably priced play group Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24179-setting-up-a-new-playgroup/#findComment-555912 Share on other sites

minder
Do you mean a parent/carer toddler group e.g. a drop-in for a few hours once or twice a week? If so, there's always a need for baby/toddler groups in any area, but it can turn into hard work if you have not got people helping out e.g. help setting up (heavy work getting tables, chairs, etc. out) teas/juices, washing up, managing the financial side, tidying up etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24179-setting-up-a-new-playgroup/#findComment-556024 Share on other sites

Pugwash
I think the problem you will find is that of space. There is a general shortage of space in ED which is toddler friendly. Also meeting the various operating criteria of OFSTEAD and other bodies. Unless you want to do this as a businss - it could take some months to organise Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24179-setting-up-a-new-playgroup/#findComment-556334 Share on other sites
minder
If Alice was setting up as a parent/toddler group, then she wouldn't need Ofsted's permission.
