One of the Very Worst Places for Male Mortality in London - 71 years is Nunhead Ward considering we are so near is East Dulwich anything like as bad? They Blame it on Smoking , Drinking, Poor Diet, and Weight. Are the Nunheadians really so different?

As there are a few Southwark council care homes in Nunhead and as men on average die sooner than men, does this have anything to do with it?

I'd imagine that the male mortality rate in Nunhead is related to the lack of health provisions in the area. The Pioneer Health centre on St Marys Road was closed back in the eighties.

Surely there's a strong correlation with poverty. Even though the poorest areas are concentrated in East London, Peckham and Nunhead are still on average fairly poor areas.
