SingingWilks
There are direct trains from Peckham Rye station to Eltham (although not in the middle of the night!) so if you do decide to move to this great place, you might want to consider being within easy reach of PR. KatsuQueen
Further to SingingWilks comment above, maybe you should consider the area in between Peckham Rye and ED stations? You would still be very close to ED Lordship Lane etc but also within easy reach of Peckham Rye station (which has a better service than ED station). You'd be in SE15 but arguably closer to ED's main shops/pubs etc than mamny parts of SE22. Dorothy
Honestly, at your age, I would rent in a cheaper area. At some point you will want a mortgage? If so all the money you can save now could go towards a deposit. Have you considered New Cross, Lewisham, Nunhead, Old Kent Road, Bermondsey, Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Lee Green, Eltham itself? All of those will cost you a couple of hundred less per month in rent. Travel to London Bridge then back out. Some journeys required 3 changes.. Journey time 44-56 mins not goodFox. allio
only if you have at least 1 child under 2 and another on the way. It gets more like a scene for Stepford wives everyday. alexaf
I completely agree. I moved when I started having my family, but this isn't the most lively place for someone in their early 20s. Why not look at Shoreditch or Camden or somewhere which has a better and younger night life? JimmyMc1311
East Dulwich is fab. The people are friendly , the bars and restaurants are cool and it is a great place to live. Just don't pay attention to the neurotic yummy mummy's who spout nothing but venom on this forum. They know who they are. grancabrona
After reading all this self- satisfied, borderline delusional propaganda why would you want to move here?! It's nicer than ahem South Norwood and Penge but that's not saying much. It's actually pretty dull and suburban but if you want to base your quality of life on an array of pleasant but hideously overpriced croissants it's a paradise. ????
Er, weird couple of posts. Where's all the delusion Granc - actually alot of people on this thread saying precisely that it is a bit dull and surburban for a 20 something...did you raed any of it or just pile in?And as for Jimmy, I can only see one bit of venom on this thread...step forward, take a bow. landellsrd
i'd consider camberwell instead. 15 minutes walk to ED if you fancy the cafe's and shops/ parks and more young at heart with loads of frequent nightbuses from all over london. much younger and trendier. i lived in west hampstead for a year when i was in my early 20's and god it was boring. ED is in general a bit more middle-aged. also camberwell will be cheaper. good luck whatever you decide.
