Precisely- and not just communities- I've worked in several 'faith' schools and they actively discriminate against LGBT by not including those PEOPLE in the Equality section of the Citizenship program.( until September 2020) And, unfortunately fishbiscuits, we are banging our heads up against a brick wall trying to persuade any person of 'faith' to think again because 'faith' is a belief in the totally unknowable....Catch 22 comes to mind- conveniently for them.

You see any hypocrisy in that?

Pretty much, yes. But not to the same extent. Single sex schools do not indoctrinate impressionable young minds by mixing mythology and personal beliefs with education.

Yes religion may be a delicate subject for some, but I'm all for speaking up for reason, critical thinking, and human progress. Cruel slaughter of animals does not stand up to any sort of logic or scrutiny. Neither does educating kids according to their parents' extra-curricular beliefs. Or prime ministers who think their invisible magical friend told them to take the country to war.

I'm sick to the f*****g stomach of all of it, to be honest.

Clearly we'll never agree, so I shall not continue further (and apologies again for derailing the thread).

Whilst it's an old story Cella, the following talks a about how the Mayor failed to spend much needed money on the police when knife crime was rising in 2018

There are more examples on line and if you weren't such a doubting Thomas you could look them up yourself, however now back to NY and banning Foie Gras and not your apparent lovefest for the Mayor.🤔😳😂

No- just getting my money back (ha ha ha) AND I could challenge their homophobia face to face....and I now know that the indoctrination is actually getting worse...importation of more fundamentalist video material from the USA, using enhanced colours (or should I say 'colors'- a dead give-away) and modern 'romantic' music and imagery...sickening

    • Hi, Self explanatory anyone help or point me in  right direction please.   Thanks
    • Cheques are still the safest way to send money to others if you want to make a 'thing' of it. At Christmas or birthdays a card with a cheque is the most effective present to distant god children or extended family, for instance when you don't know what they have or need - made out to the parent if you don't think they have an account yet. Of course you can use electronic transfer, often, to parents if you set it up, but that doesn't quite have the impact of a cheque in the post. So a cheque still has a use, I believe, even when you have very much reduced your cheque writing for other purposes.

    • The solution for the cost of duvet washing is for each person to have their own single duvet like in Scandinavia.  Then you can wash the duvet in your own washing machine. Get a heated drying rack if you don’t have a tumble dryer.
