davidh
I received a flyer through the door this morning, protesting about council plans to develop unused tennis courts into floodlit football areas for athenlay fc. there is to be a protest meeting next week. they claim it will end life as know it and that local wildlife will not like noise and light late in to the evening. for god's sake, lighten up (as it were). most councils provide such facilities, cos this a rather dark and dreary country for long stretches of the year. unless someone can come up with sensible and reasonable objections (no doubt james barber will wait and see which way the wind blows before taking a stand) I shall support athenlay, who have a fine record of providing sport for young people, apart from the top level players who have emerged from their club. the-e-dealer
It will be a dark day when floodlights come to Athenlay! I agree lights tll 9pm would be great for the local sporting types. The Minkey
An old running track round the corner from where I used to live was converted into floodlit pitches which created quite a bit of noise disturbance - shouting, whistles etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24033-floodlit-pitches-on-homestall-road/#findComment-553992 Share on other sites

Peckhamgatecrasher
I didn't know there were tennis courts there. I'd use them. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24033-floodlit-pitches-on-homestall-road/#findComment-554075 Share on other sites
The Minkey
David, it was in Nursery Rd, Brixton, to the back of M&S. I lived just round the corner from it in Shannon Grove. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=530909&y=175461&z=110&sv=nursery+road&st=6&tl=Map+of+Nursery+Road,+London,+SW9&searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24033-floodlit-pitches-on-homestall-road/#findComment-554199 Share on other sites
