I am a joint freeholder of a block of flats in which I own the ground flat. We are in negotiations to be able to knock through to the communal garden and create a kitchen extension/have access to a private section of the garden.

If I get this agreement from the other freeholders presumably the next step would be to get the deeds changed to reflect what we have agreed. Can anyone advise on the process? or next steps?

I will be spending some time researching this but any local advice I can get would be gratefully received!

Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

Have you got a price to purchase the area for your extension from your co Freeholders, would they be willing to loose the amenity of loosing the use of the communal area.

You stated that you own the ground floor flat, there can only be a few flats in all, but you will have to pay for all the altered Deeds, as you are the one wanting the change.

I think that you must multiply the cost by the number of Freeholders by at lease ?2.000 and the alteration of the Deeds will be yours for them and yourself, plus the Solicitors fee.

This will be in addition to your Architect, Planning Fees, Materials, and Builders, and re - Rating.

This could be a non srarter, have you asked the Planning Dept if this is possible?

    • It wasn't me who started the thread! Monica no longer lives locally. I've given my opinion, and so have others, which is that it should remain  a community notice board. If you think it's better used for commercial purposes, good luck to you with organising that and deciding who gets priority.  If local businesses have "little to no marketing budget", as you say in  another post above, they surely should have taken that into account before deciding to start up a business which needs marketing other than just having a shop front and/or posting on free  places like this forum?

    • James Barber was very involved. I do though recall he was a big supporter of CPZ so am interested to understand his thinking on these locally, plus LTN, now, and how much heed he would take of majority opposition to implementation, as has been the case recently?
