Huguenot
Out with Mockney last night. So spizzered I couldn't remember if I'd paid the bill.If it's the people that make the place then Dave the barman is a very nice pub! Next time I need to get irrationally tonkered and discuss the Cathars, recent history of Cirencester, Tess of the D'Urbevilles and contemporary pop (when I was right and everyone else was wrong), I shall do it there...Hurrah! CrystalClear
Am now regretting never having been there, may have to pop in soon. Though by the sounds of it, maybe not on a school night. Er, are people going for a drink after the wine tasting? mockney piers
Just to reiterate that Dave is indeed a very nice pub and I'm sure I'll be back.I seem to have been given a severe mauling by the beer monkey and his thieving ways, so I'm guessing I contributed to the bill, and probably insisted ;)(but have no memory whatsoever, I blame the Cathars) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/240-the-drum-jolly-nice/#findComment-4140 Share on other sites

Huguenot
Hmm, you may have paid all the bill Mockney, I distinctly remember behaving like the Hooded Claw at leaving time convinced that we'd paid the bill twice ;-)Nicky Nu is heading to the tasting at Black & Blue tonite. One suspects that the beer monster is already sneering in his self-righteousness. We shall have to see if there are any free places, or Mockney may well end up pawing at the window like Tiny Tim craving a prosthetic limb....I object to my own use of the word 'prosthetic'. Domitianus
The Drum may be very nice and the retro 'Hammer Horror set-in-70s Chelsea' feel of some of the staff is amusing. Only problem is that in the past their opening hours have been a tad irregular. I have sometimes drifted round the corner at a xcivilised hour looking for a quick latte to lift my flagging spirits to find the shutters down. Perhaps a little more regularity might encourage more punters? clare
Check out the potato people in the art gallery place just down from the drum. Amy Winehouse -it could be her! My personal favourite is the Bayeux Tapestry...... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/240-the-drum-jolly-nice/#findComment-4258 Share on other sites
Incitatus
Ah 'The Starchy Gallery' - A Triumph In Potatoes-, fantastic isn't it, Space Station 65 is still one of the better things about North Cross. I saw someone had done Botticelli's ?Birth of Venus'. Go to the site and check out Delacroix?s ?Liberty leading The People', genius. The analysis and discussion page is very good too.www.starchygallery.co.uk Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/240-the-drum-jolly-nice/#findComment-4261 Share on other sites
SimonM
Saw these at Dulwich College on Sunday whilst stocking up at the Farmers' Market! Some of them were quite wonderful - loved "Posh Slice" & "The Death of King Harold", and the very witty Britney :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/240-the-drum-jolly-nice/#findComment-4262 Share on other sites
