With the reasonably high turnover of units in Lordship Lane, for example Headinizm and William Hill both recently going, what would you like to see in an empty units place?

I think i'd like to see a Pizza Hut open up on LL, as i feel it is a great value, decent quality restaurant for all and sundry. I have noticed with some alarm all the Pizza Hut restaurants disappearing in the last decade or so (why is this?), and think it would be great to have one on our doorstep for when we cant be bothered to cook and want some comfort food in a pleasant environment or simply to take away to devour front of X-Factor on a Saturday night. I feel that all other options we have on LL at the moment are geared towards those with lots of disposable income, or the complete opposite (see the grimey 'Kebab and Wine' or the cheap chicken shops) with not much in the middle. Pizza Hut would be ideal.

What would you like to see?

I would like to see a sports shop, not a JD Sports, but a shop selling cricket bats, pads, balls, hockey sticks, sports trainers, slips, tennis rackets, balls and the like.

Inter-Sports in Herne Hill is very good, but that is in Herne Hill.

I would also like to see a proper nightclub. Although i like going to Brixton and visiting the nightclubs there, i sometimes feel a bit of trepidation when i get the 37 home at 06:30 in the morning, get off at Goose Green and feel people looking at me like im a wrong 'un, who ought to have been in bed hours ago. It would be great to have a club that is right on my doorstep, the only thing close is 'Sylvester' which closes at 2 and is tiny.

There is one up by the Lordship Pub I think.

Have we got a knocking shop?

That would be unique on the lane with the Dutch style of display windows at the front and a proper madam up the back giving bribes to the rozzers to turn a blind eye to MPs and others turning up in their limos after buying whipping cream and celery from the coop

Failing that any independent type business welcome

(No, I never understood the flying helmet and celery gag in 'allo 'allo either)

I also miss the 414, a disgrace that the company that owns Brixton village saw fit to close down an institution and kick out the owners who lived above for 30 years.

I get the feeling that new place in Peckham ,which by all accounts just looks like part of the Bussey Building, will be for the young trendy types and not the pill munching old skool.

No pony. No it good.

It is actually quite good if you like meat and chips.

    • I agree re rents, but I don't think you can compare Croydon and Bromley with East Dulwich. Different kettles of fish. They both had, or possibly still have, big what used to be called "shopping centres" rather than just high streets. I think the one in Croydon is being "regenerated" or whatever the word is, isn't it? Also shopping habits are changing. Where once you would go to a physical  shop to buy things, now many things are bought online, where apart from the convenience there is more choice, and you can easily compare prices and see reviews. Re Lidl in Dulwich, I knew a very well off person with a house on the Thames in London plus various other places including a flat in Venice (!), who shopped in Lidl because she said their parmesan was excellent 😀 My grandmother used to be very sniffy about M&S (in the days before it became known by its initials) 😀 I think it would be great to have a Lidl nearer than Camberwell or Peckham, but I can't see it happening, sadly. I'd also like to see a Waitrose, preferably replacing Sainsbury's, but that isn't going to happen either, also sadly.
