Jeremy
Not sure about pre-booking, but it's cheaper to go from London Bridge. The journey time is not much different. bon3yard
Gatwick express is a total ripoff. Get train from london bridge. only takes ten mins longer and is a third of the price. BeccaL
Or via Forest Hill changing at East Croydon, saves you going into London Bridge in the first place Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23951-cheapest-gatwick-express-tickets/#findComment-552543 Share on other sites
Carrie
Or get the train from East Dulwich to West Croydon - get off at Selhurst and stay on the same platform for the East Croydon train then change at East Croydon for Gatwick. One more change of trains but as you don't need to change platforms and the next train comes along very quickly it does not really disrupt the journey. I did it that way a couple of months ago and caught a train at about 11.30 from East Dulwich and sitting was in the departure lounge at Gatwick less than an hour later (although did help that I only had hand luggage and that Gatwick was as quiet as the grave that day). right-clicking
Or if you do not mind a mini bus use easybus from Victoria One way from a fiver!! Works the same way as easyjet (book early) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23951-cheapest-gatwick-express-tickets/#findComment-552586 Share on other sites
????
It's not even 10 minutes longer from London Bridge - the Gatwick 'Express' always gets delays around Battersea and/or selhurst. Only mugs and uncanny toiurists use the GE......avoid Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23951-cheapest-gatwick-express-tickets/#findComment-552601 Share on other sites
Pollypops
I'd agree that the Gatwick Express is a rip-off! Much cheaper to get a regular ticket for the Southern or First Capital Conest trains. The service is pretty much the same with the London Bridge option as well. We're heading to Gatwick on Sunday morning and have decided that Forest Hill to East Croydon and then onto Gatwick is the best route.
