To avoid the problem of the bank telling you it's your fault, ask them for a pin & signature card that you can sign for at the point of sale also. This then avoids the bank telling you your pin wasn't secure.

The bank will try to avoid giving you this card, but demand it and you wont have the problem of trying to reclaim your money they can't secure for you.

I just noticed this topic and thought I should add that I had an email last week forwarded via someone in Wandsworth council regarding a card scam at the very *fuel supplier's name removed* garage, East Dulwich. Seems that cards were cloned in Egypt and used. Liking the stocks idea!

if we,re going to do it on goose green why use rotten tomatoes, when there are plenty of "dog eggs" lying around.

You are aware, I hope, that this thread is utterly libelous and each of you, the site owner and hosting company, could all be done by each of the *fuel supplier's name removed* employees, the *fuel supplier's name removed* garage franchisee and *fuel supplier's name removed*.
Yes, no one from the forum will sleep in their beds tonight...., we are all terrified we will be sued. Do you really think people are signing on the forum using their own names? :)) Try and go and find people called 'Spadetownboy' or 'Huguenot', (they are in Dulwich Park right now constructing a ducking stool). Oh the joy of annonymity!;-)

Our counsel has recommended that we replace the name of the garage in question with *fuel supplier's name removed* so we have, apologies for having to have edited people's posts. We recommend that you don't use your debit/credit card at a garage in East Dulwich and generally make sure you cover your hand when entering your pin and don't let it out of your sight when paying.

Aha Bawdy-nan, one could perceive those to be bullying tactics...

In fact there isn't anything libellous on these pages, since the users only refer to actual events: the appearance of a consistent retailer on the victims' transaction records, an exchange with the fuel distributor and the local council, and the destiny of the funds.

The only other posts are speculation as to the miscreant, and proposed solutions (both real and comic) should the miscreant be identified... "..if... then..".

We're all exccedingly grateful to you for your timely legal advice, but I would urge everyone who is the victim of a crime to seek out the support and advice of their local community. We should of course only do that bearing in mind our responsibilities to the innocent.

Remember, all that is needed for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Bawdy Nan if we say nothing then only people who win are the criminals; I'm sure you wouldn't want that?

Bawdy Nan,

I'm no legal expert but I have only ever used one filling station in East Dulwich so I don't understand how stating which one it is counts as libel when, as Huguenot says, it is fact. And I have to say I respect the Administrator's decision to remove the fuel company's name as I'm sure it's better to be safe than sorry (even to suggest what their name is).

By the way, if anyone goes to that Mexican restaurant I suggest that you don't give their dish called Tex a go, your money's better spent elsewhere apparently.

About the so called retailer thats skimming and cloning cards, my friend will be in the South London Press next week as they came to to take a foto and interview him, he was one of the many friends and locals that was ripped off and still hasnt got money back. They will not mention the retailer but a warning will be issued further afield than the ed forum. The SLP know about the forum and are checking it for updates too.Anyone else's card been skimmed recently?
Did you know I once bumped into Sean McGuire during a lunch time drink in a (admittedly dodgey) bar just outside the city and remember he used to play Tegs in Grange Hill. He and his mates were right cheeky chappies, I'd go as far as to say that Tegs and co were quite naughty.
