Hello Renata,

Earlier in the summer a car crashed into a tree on the corner of Stuart road and Cheltenham Road killing the tree. So far, no tree has been planted to replace it. This area is a pedestrianised triangle. Moreover, due to it being at a distance from housing (to avoid subsidence), there is ample room for more trees in this space. Currently, with the increasing awareness of climate change and the value of tree planting as part of tackling the process, I wonder when/if this could be remedied. In case you are wondering I have informed Southwark Council and the tree planting department. However, there has been no action or information.

If you want to contact Ms Hamvas (who with other current and former councilors does use this forum, but not obsessively) try contacting her directly - a general post such as this may well not be picked up by her for some time if at all (particularly if it drops down the 'pecking order'). As a councilor her contact details are readily available.
Quite right Lilaclou - Climate change is something that already affects millions of human beings and is a critical problem getting worse! Little changes like this can contribute - rather than inaction - so thank you for trying to do something! Renata can be contacted directly on http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgUserInfo.aspx?UID=905 in case you haven't tried this option already.

Hi Lilaclou, (and other posters)

Thank you for your message. As other posters have said, It tends to get to me faster if you email me rather than post on here. I agree trees are very important for our environment. Trees don't normally get planted during the summer months as they shouldn't be planted when they are in full growing mode, but rather when they are without leaves and dormant. Southwark therefore plants replacement trees in the winter.

You mention that you think more trees could be planted here. The best way to get this looked into is to put in an application to Cleaner, Greener, Safer. The scheme is open for applications now! Tree planting fits into the remit of the scheme, as do cycle hangers, environmental improvement projects, road safety etc

Please put in an application. The tree officers would look at the site and check if the additional greening of this location is feasible. They then pass their recommendations to the ward councillors with a costing, so you don't need to work out the cost for the forms.

I will report about the dead tree in case it isn't already on the planting schedule.

My contact details are attached.

    • I am desperate to find somebody who has experience of autoimmune rheumatic diseases, who really understand the chronic clinical framework. I had found one doctor very good at this and for some years things went on smoothly,  until administrative changes or just his different agenda and priorities messed up totally my care: for about one year I did not receive the diagnosis of a comorbidity  I needed.  I had to go privately and discover that with a very cheap medication I would sort out awful pain and risk of complications in few days. After that episode,  I decided to change practice as I did not feel comfortable anymore going back there. But things went even worse. With the new surgery GPs I had to file a yellow card for a very idiot error in a prescription, then I have been denied prescriptions that I have on my list of repeated medications with the consequence I ended up in A&E that referred me to the hospital clinic for further assessment. It is really tiring!  I am feeling constantly dismissed if not even intentionally bullied by receptionists and young doctors or trainees. It is very stressful to deal with GPs that do not understand basic things. I do not have the resources to go privately for everything.  I manage my condition very well but any little issue I have (and I have many, to be honest) requires to be considered in the context of  autoimmunity and allergies, for which I cannot always rely on self-care I need to speak with a doctor.   junior doctors and doctors without understanding of rheumatic diseases tend to either prescribe medications I cannot take or dismiss the problems as common and non specific so not worth attention. It is not the case.   Also referral to specialists for monitoring a number of risks have been mismanaged by the new surgery with appalling waste of resources (it makes no sense to be refer me for a  wrong  issue or to the wrong clinic).  This new GP (that saw me just once in six months) told me I have health anxiety that I absolutely do not have. He ordered tons of blood test totally useless instead of trying to understand how to deal with an issue that is reported in clinical recommendations for my condition as very frequent and to be treated symptomatically (as I have been doing following advice from another private GP). I do  have health needs unrecognised by this GP so I want to change GP surgery again.    Does anybody have recommendations of local surgeries registering new patients with the NHS that have  doctors with this level of expertise in autoimmune rheumatic diseases? Please any help will be appreciated.  Ideal would be for me to have also the possibility of a chat with the doctor before registering and the ease of talking over the phone about problems - not sending an interminable chain of chats and text messages. I am really easy to talk to, I do not expect any miracle and I am not happy to take drugs so I am not the kind of patient that pests with phone calls and urgent requests for prescriptions. I just want to go ahead with my life and repeated prescription without harassment errors of judgements and superficial chats.  I am happy to travel anywhere in Dulwich and surrounding areas as long as they can register me (I live in Dulwich with postcode falling into Lambeth though not Southwark)  Thank you so much  Marbeya
    • This morning we had a guest come into our home, thinking it was our cat… this little man is not our girl Noona. Does anyone recognise him? We’re not sure what to do with him. Any tips?   We’re in the Denmark hill area. He seems quite friendly and isn’t looking for food so we believe he’s a house cat.
    • Wonder if the actual owners know what’s going on. That’s sad.
    • Why do people say this. You want to say something you can  share with me or you don't .
