NEW! FROM TAKE FLIGHT ACADEMY

Dear all

Our new mid-week ACTING CLASSES launched last week in the professional drama studios at Sydenham School. We are offering FREE TASTERS throughout this term if your child/teen would like to come along and try out this new format class from Take Flight Academy!!

Our Artistic Director and course leader, EMILY HOLT has a long career in the performing arts industry and trained in acting at the prestigious LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art).

A local mother, Emily has a young family and whilst still working professionally as Movement Director for stage & screen, she also teaches on the BA Acting & Foundation courses at LAMDA and sits on the audition panels for prospective new students. It?s safe to say these new classes are in very safe hands and we are delighted to have Emily on board at Take Flight Academy!!!

As participants in our ACTING CLASSES, students will adopt an array of new acting skills and techniques from around the world, experience a huge variety of fun exercises and games, perform in our own unique adaptation of a play at the end of the year AND importantly, build the vital self-confidence that will help them really Take Flight in life!

In addition, the curriculum for our older students mirrors adult professional acting training and provides great support and foundation for both Drama & English GCSEs, National Youth Theatre auditions, Brit school or other drama school auditions.

Initially we are launching with two classes from this September:

    • Other local constituents are likely to be less keen on having an increase in noise pollution. Must be a change in wind direction but Brockwell sounds even louder today on the village side of Lordship Lane.
    • It’s just so so loud, I can’t imagine what it must be like if you live right next to the park. I am so stressed by the noise half an hour away! How can this be permitted?
    • You are not the only one no. Local residents are fighting Lambeth through the courts over the increased use of Brockwell Pak for these types of events. And there is the GALA festival on the Rye this weekend, also unbearable at times, although it seems to be a bit quieter today. Brockwell Park is probably more complicated in terms of noise management, because the entire park is on the side of a hill. The Rye at least is sunken in a bit where they locate the festival.
