benjaminty - it took this thread to make you think meeting us at a drink was ok? tchaa ;-)

I haven't mentions Val's grocer because I've done it a million times on other threads but I'm really glad lozzyloz has... it's not so much the shop, or the stock... it's all down to Nisha for me. Although they have a couple of younger guys working in there who have recently started and are very sweet - just need to come out of their shells a bit

(Loz: is Val from Val's the proprietor or something - or did you mean Nisha? - just curious because I don't know anyone elses name in there)

I've always assumed the guy with the moustache was Mr Nisha but I don't know his name - I'm going to ask about the whole situation next time I go in (I can then put it on the achievements thread!)

Estate agents - well, I can't imagine a situation where I would use them often enough to recommend any - but had great service from Bushells when I bought my flat (I know lots of people haven't but just sayin....)

SMBS

the walk down Melbourne Grove

pie and mash at the Magdala and watching the footy there

The Lane cafe (roll on when it reopens on the 20th Jan)

Karavan for my joss sticks

North Cross Road market

all the friends i've made there and the fact that most of my uni mates from Middlesbrough have also moved here!

CPT! :)-D

I know it has it's faults, but they are lovely guys, and they make a real effort! Onlt pub I can go in on my own, and know that a staff member will chat to me.

Peckhamgatecrasher, I agree about Rose, she's ace!

Kebab & Wine is one of the best kebab shops I know of... Interested to see what exactly they've done with Yilmaz.

The posh flower shop on North Cross Road. Yes it's expensive, but their stock is all top notch and lasts for ages. For special occasions it's well worth it.

Agree with so many of the other suggestions already made, including the fact that it's very nice to see a wholly positive thread.

Oh, and also love the fact that Paul of Sea Cow used the forum to respond in such a professional and service-oriented way to the criticism of his establishment - hope it gets back on form.

I'd like to big up the roundabout by the EDT, it gets loads of grief from passing cars 24/7 365 days a year, especially in the past 40 to 50 years as traffic volume has increased and now its about to get some bizarre piece of architecture slapped on it, so come on guys let's big up ED's most famous roundabout and wish it well for the future.

Louisa.

I apologise for my earlier comment and have edited it above to remove the offending words "nice tits". This is a serious forum and it has no place for ungentlemanly, sexist comments such as these. Especially from MrBen who was a little the worse for wear at the time.

Moral: Dont drink and post!

I should think so too, Mr Ben. I am glad you have edited your earlier post using the expression "Nice tits" to remove the unacceptable comment "Nice tits". Really there is no justification for using the words "Nice tits" on this forum even if you are referring to a nice set of tits.

Can other posters suggest alternatives to the expression "Nice tits" should any other poster wish to refer to an admirable pair of mammary glands?

unapproved because the guy's a nob and is saying "great tits " a lot much to do with the thread? I think not. - mark

The bathroom shop on lordship lane for giving me a free part for my kitchen tap - AND the cobblers in Forest Hill for mending my boots mended for free - you don't get friendly people like that in shops in other parts of London. I've had countless really friendly tradesmen too which was not my experience where I used to live.

And the Thai Corner Cafe - not yet found a Thai anywhere to beat it.

The Horniman Museum and gardens makes me happy whenever I go there.

The East Dulwich Forum is just a brilliant idea and has been proven to give power to the people!

The 'Zombie' cocktails in Black Cherry and the cheerful waitress with long dark hair that serves them.

The friendly dry cleaner on Grove Vale

The friendly gym-goers at Dulwich Hamlet

Chicken/Camembert burgers at Gourmet Burger

The Italian restaurant on Forest Hill Road

Peckham Rye Park

The greasy spoon next to Apollo DVD shop that do the best fry ups

The pizzas in La Petit Mon.. (something or other)

    • Hi does anyone have a Hotwheels track (ideally which packs away neatly like the fuel can or transporter one) they've been itching to get rid of please? Needed urgently for an emergency birthday present!    Thanks!
    • Glad to hear that the cops are taking crash for cash seriously.  The situation I am aware of the driver called the police, reported it separately as dangerous motorcycling, avoided all calls from 'ambulance chasers' and subsequently got a letter from the police saying it was an unregistered rider/uninsured rider.  It was reluctantly reported to their insurers who actually did not put up the premium which was a nice surprise. So as stressful as it may be just hold firm, deny everything, take down details and report to the police.
    • Hi I am looking to join some local businesses networking events and wondering if anyone can recommend any. I know there used to be one (Cooking with Scissors) but that’s not running any more. Thanks.
    • Eats Dulwich has just reviewed Arapina, including its hot chocolate!  I assume they read the original first and  very long post on this thread before almost all of it was removed. Interesting to have another opinion!
