The Dulwich Players present The Rover by Aphra Behn

To be performed at the Edward Alleyn Theatre, Dulwich College, SE21 7LD

Wednesday 23rd ? Saturday 26th October 2019 at 8 p.m.

King Charles II is in exile, and his supporters have fled Puritan England for sunnier, more entertaining climes. As the lads exhibit some 17th century ?Brits Abroad? behaviour, Hellena, ?a gay young woman designed for a nun?, convinces her sister that they too should take the opportunity to disguise themselves in masquerade and explore the world of sex and romance?

Written by England?s first female playwright, Aphra Behn?s dark comedy explores the relationship between gender, power and sexual liberty in the 17th century, which remains surprisingly pertinent today.

Some sexually explicit language. Age 14+

    • Good for you. What happens when you get to sodding Tesco and the crappy instore Hermes terminal is broken, and the store workers aren't trained to fix it, and there's no way for the punter to contact Hermes IT (as if it were our job to fix it)? What happens when you get to the parcel locker to drop off a package and the machine can't scan the label that it itself printed several seconds beforehand? What happens when each shop requires a different bar code, QR code, reference code and ID to send and receive a simply package? These are all things that have happened to me in the last month alone, despite your implications that people who want to use the Post Office are thickies and troglodytes. It's all a stupid inefficient pain in the ring that is unnecessarily complicated. What is wrong with this country that it can't run a decent, simple post office?
    • Anyone doing a clearout?  I'm looking for a yoga bolster.  Thanks!
