fapl
There is a wild food forage walk meeting at Hither Green station on Saturday at 2pm. I thought it would be fun to take my nearly 3 year old. My husband thinks it is a terrible idea in case he starts eating any old random plants and berries. What do forumites think? sophiechristophy
I think it is a great idea - I would have thought that whoever is leading it will make the point more than once that you have to be certain you know what you are eating when you are foraging, so could be a good opportunity for your son to get a good grip on the idea that you do need to be careful when eating things that you find. Saffron
Doesn't clash with naptime? Walk not too long? Sounds like fun to me! :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23600-would-you-take-a-2-year-old-on-a-wild-food-forage-walk/#findComment-546801 Share on other sites
hanstands
Fab idea...my three year old went on a Fungi Walk in Sydenham Woods with his Dad, loved it and hasn't eaten any wild fungi as a result. sillywoman
DO people eat random plants and berries on those walks? I really doubt it. What better way for your boy to learn to recognise what's good to eat & what isn't than by taking him on guided walks like this? I think it's a great idea & your husband isn't being logical. Smiler
I would only go if could take a pushchair on the route, or just do a bit off it, if the walk is aimed at adults / older kids a 3yo will probably get tired and whingey.
