free bike maintenance under Peckham Arch Sept 12th

We've got a lovely new Dr Bike banner and we will be showing it off under Peckham Arch (see pic) from 5.30-7.30pm on Thursday September 12th. Doing the work will be our professional mechanic Charlie (on the left) and our leader Andy (on the right) plus assorted volunteers (I'm not naming them because I'm not clear who they are right now). They will be fixing brakes, indexing gears and giving good advice on wheels ("that one's square") and chains ("too dirty.......needs cleaning". This isn't an alternative to having your bike serviced but if you are planning an autumn service it will help you sort out the shops which are giving good advice and the ones which may not have your best interests at heart.

We are the Southwark branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk and the LCC website is here: https://lcc.org.uk/?ref=nav. Like everything we do this Dr Bike session is free and open to all. We fund everything we offer ourselves. How we manage that is a long story. Stop and ask if you really want to know. Any further details on the Dr Bike are here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/dr-bike-under-peckham-arch-18/ and you can contact us on [email protected]; tweet us on @southwarkcycle or text me on 07842 640 207 and I will do my best to find out.

    • In case it is relevant here .... Albrighton Community Fridge [just further up from DKH Sainsburys on opposite side] are taking in unwanted electricals.   https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/
    • Interesting. Same area. Someone doing a circular walk with their dog?
    • I have to join this thread..I have'nt stepped in dog poo for years and years and then twice in the last couple of months North X road and Felbrigg road. To add insult to injury both times its been with my right foot which superstition says is bad luck So thats doubly sh**ty😩
    • Good for you. What happens when you get to sodding Tesco and the crappy instore Hermes terminal is broken, and the store workers aren't trained to fix it, and there's no way for the punter to contact Hermes IT (as if it were our job to fix it)? What happens when you get to the parcel locker to drop off a package and the machine can't scan the label that it itself printed several seconds beforehand? What happens when each shop requires a different bar code, QR code, reference code and ID to send and receive a simply package? These are all things that have happened to me in the last month alone, despite your implications that people who want to use the Post Office are thickies and troglodytes. It's all a stupid inefficient pain in the ring that is unnecessarily complicated. What is wrong with this country that it can't run a decent, simple post office?
