Vikki O
Hi, does anyone in SE22 have, or know anyone who has had a loft conversion onto a london / butterfly roof?I've been told it's possible, planning is more than likely to be refused but good chance of success on appeal (how that works I have no idea -who benefits financially from that??!)It'd be great to get advice/feedback from anyone who has been down this road... thanks! Huguenot
I'm guessing they get rejected initially because they demonstrate all the aesthetic intelligence of sawing your own foot off just to be different. They then get passed on appeal on the grounds that if it's that important to you then go for your life. We all know that if everyone had a butterfly roof you'd want a hip and gable one.;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23575-loft-conversions-on-london-roof/#findComment-546678 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Can't imagine it being accepted, wouldn't it stick out like a sore thumb? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23575-loft-conversions-on-london-roof/#findComment-546690 Share on other sites
red devil
If the work can be done within Permitted Development rights then it won't get rejected, no matter how 'aesthetically challenging' the end result is... Jeremy
If this is what I'm thinking (like the houses on Fenwick Rd with V-shaped roofs), there's no way this can be done under permitted development. Huguenot
I can't quite imagine how you get a butterfly roof onto a Victorian terraced house without it looking ridiculous, nor why you would want to put it there.
