markcarey
Ive noticed a smell all over ED and where I live in Peckham Rye/Nunhead today, particularly early evening. Is it rape seed, it smells like some plant has blossomed........or am I going bonkers? Only me!
It does smell like Rape to me.Combination of ample rain & a bit of warmth must be bringing on a bumper crop.....& the wind is just bringing it in our direction. Designerjooles
I thought that it must have been everyone getting their stinky last-years sandals out of the cupboard for an airing in liew of this weeks weather forecast... Sue
Yes I'm sure it's rape.Funnily enough I said to my OH yesterday that I could smell rape, and that it was the first time I had smelled it this year.I know it's flowering at the moment because I passed fields of it on the way to Whitstable on the train last weekend, and said at the time that it was odd that I hadn't smelled it yet.I don't know where the nearest plants are to ED though????ETA: I also smelled it really strongly this evening, and in fact the smell was so strong that I thought it must be something else. bugsbgone
This fool actually checked under his bed to check for evidence of a visit by the local cat fraternity.. Mrs TP
Ah, I thought the air smelt like it had been a warm summer's day. Much as it had not been roasting I associated the smell with hot summer days in the countryside. Not just me going bonkers then. The Minkey
I have some rape plants in my garden, they've practically gone to seed, hardly any blossoms left but maybe they got an earlier start than the agricultural crops. I hadn't noticed they had any smell as such. My house has been smelling of cat spray, but that's most definitely tomcats spraying against the backdoor.
