Gavain
It would be fab if we could get the torch to come through, perhaps if enough people show an interest it could be done? Peckhamgatecrasher
Last time a torch was run through the streets of Peckham, I was looking forward to a big sports name. Floella Benjamin did the honours.I'd rather have had Big Ted. tallulah71
I heard her being interviewed on Radio 4 a couple of years ago and aside from being a Dulwich gal, (by way of Trinidad & Tobagao) she's an extremely well-accomplished woman. Chairman of BAFTA, VP of the Royal Commonwealth Society and a Liberal Democrat Life Peer to name but a few (but I won't hold that against her!)Not sure when Big Ted was a big sports name. wadeylady001
We won't object here in Catford if you want to join us on our turf to see it carried down Rushey Green. For us it'll bring back memories of last August, although this time people will be running away from the Catford Gyratory wearing trainers, rather than carrying armloads of them. The dotted line that sits over Peckham is just a random blob to indicate the borough isn't it? Is it posted somewhere else? Mrs TP
Oh I hope it's not a random line. We have our kids taking it in turns to man our deck chair in Maxted Rd to reserve our viewing space. catma
I think until they post the official route, like you can see for the Greenwich and Lewisham sections then it's still just indicating the borough rather than the actual route. cactus
I may be entirely wrong, but when I checked the route a couple of weeks ago, the nearest place to East Dulwich to see the torch, was going to be Crystal Palace Park on July 23rd.Though perhaps more details have been added since... BrandNewGuy
I couldn't give a monkey's where the damn thing goes and the BBC's "follow the torch with live text and video" thing is expensive, dull and pointless. Applespider
I'm finding the bbctorchcam strangely compulsive. There are a lot of very excited people out there - and seeing the enthusiasm of people for their local torch bearers and pride on the face of the torchbearers, is quite uplifting. There's so much negativity in the press about the Olympics that it's good to see some genuine excitementSuspect it's a bit late though to start a campaign to get it to come through ED though - this time last year, possibly! Oh Come now,its a once in a lifetime experience, not quite like the jubilee, i have fond memorys of the last one (still got the mug!) but the flame!!!, although i think that the health and safety brigade have got their underwear in a twist what with a runner equiped with a fire extiguisher followin at a discreet distance behind is taking it a little far i fear, what would they have done during the blitz or a heaven17 gig! Albert Fegg
According to this it's not coming through Southwark at all. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17358291Something to do with there not being an M&S to feed the torchbearers.
