Hello,

Is there anyone else out there like me - with toddlers - missing the days when they had time to read for enjoyment?! I'd really love to join a book club with people in a similar situation where the emphasis is as much as meeting up for fun at the end as well as discussing the book over a glass of wine or two. Ideally I'm looking to meet up with people once a month either at a local venue or at my/others' houses if that's not too much of an imposition.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks.

Thanks Claire, that's a brilliant idea! I'd love to get into reading again and to meet other mums/dads in the area. And even if we may not always get enough time to finish the books (because of our toddlers) it would still be nice to meet up over a glass of wine :). Would love to hear more if more people are interested!

Thanks,

Hanna

Hi

There's the Wednesday night book club that meets in the Clockhouse on Barry Road:

and Green and Blue Book Club that meets wherever it can find a nice quiet spot in a local pub that does reasonable priced nice food and wine. Last time we met in the Mag and discussed Pat Barker's first novel Union Street. Next meeting is on 5th June at 7.45 for 8.00 in the Mag when we will be discussing Changing Places by David Lodge.

    • Try pavement, this is London, not the US. The Mayor increased his proportion of council tax in 2025/26 to pay for "more" haha PC's but my understanding is they were cut not increased. A rouse by the Mayor to take more and give nothing in return.  Troubling and far too common here.  Just be careful where you get it out
    • Just saw one of them on lordship lane scanning the area on the sidewalks in a hood and mask on an e-bike.  I just pointed at them pretending that I was on the phone with the cops and he darted away.  Absolute scum. Hard problem to solve. I'm hopeful there are strategies in place to keep our community safe for this but it's troubling.
