Ruth_Baldock
The baby got her hands on a huge tub of the stuff and smeared it all over herself and the bedroom carpet. I've tried hot water with lemon to try to break down the grease but it's not had much of an effect.any tips? We have a vax carpet shampoo ting, but would like to avoid using it as the shampoo we use for it seems to make me and Baby Lex a bit itchy and wheezy... Convex
Oh no!I used a baking soda mixed to a paste to get grease stains out of my buggy hood but that was polyester. Suggest you google and see what comes up on ehow or similar? Saffron
Use a toothbrush to scrub it with a small amount of washing-up liquid. Then use your carpet shampoo machine (sans carpet soap) to steam and rinse out the washing-up liquid. vch
Baby powder on grease stains usually works for me when washing normal laundry. It absorbs the grease from the fabric first. I suspect if you put baby powder on your carpet now, you'll get clumps of the stuff mixed with the sudocreme, which you can vacuum up before you wash it as suggested in the previous posts. Saffron
Is that babypowder with cornstarch or with talc? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23452-getting-sudocreme-out-of-a-cream-wool-carpet/#findComment-544346 Share on other sites
vch
Any powdery substance such as cornstarch or flour will work too. Probably best to avoid talc, if you're concerned about its side effects. Saffron
Hmm, not sure I'm convinced of the chemistry behind that. All powders are not endowed with the same physicochemical properties. We recently had some homemade playdough in the carpet. It's basically an oil/flour/water mix. It was really, REALLY difficult to remove from the carpet (wet or dry). Personally, I'd shy away from adding flour to the sudocrem spot on the carpet, unless you've already tried this method on an unseen area of the carpet. Ruth_Baldock
thanks for all your helpful suggestions :) The stain is better than this morning, but still there. It turns out our toddler was egging her on "I told Lex to mess! Look, lex mess cream!". This is why we can't have nice things. *rocks back and forth in a darkened room* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23452-getting-sudocreme-out-of-a-cream-wool-carpet/#findComment-544421 Share on other sites
