Fortune Street park has a little playground. There is a footpath through to it from Whitecross Street which may be the most direct route (turn left out of Barbican entrance on Silk st, go straight across junction with main road, go up Whitecross St then little path between buildings on left some way up).

We lived in North London til recently and I still regularly take my 3 year old to Museum of London. It is great for that age - it doesnt have a specific kids play area but lots of it is interactive and aimed at children so that they have the opportunity to eg try on hats or they have a mock prison door with all the keys and locks etc and there is a bit with a train that they can play with. Plus good running around space and a pizza express nearby good for lunch if you dont want to go to the cafe there.

There is a playground near Barbican and also the Barbican itself is not a bad place to spend some time either outdoors or in - lots of space to run about and lots of north london parents taking advantage!

In terms of getting there - train to Farringdon as above or its only a short bus ride from London Bridge: 21, 141 and get off round Moorgate and walk through

If the weather is good and you have time to kill after, thoroughly recommend jumping on a Thames Clipper boat east or West too
