I won't miss Iceland in the slightest. My freezer is already full of crap I never get round to eating before having to chuck it away and I got over black forest gateau and tiramisu in about 1985.


If it's M&S, fine (although I'd rather have a larger version of the ED Deli back). If not, I hope whoever moves in is not an estate agent, a betting shop or a pound shop chain.


Really don't give a monkeys about whether there are flats or offices above it - either way it will clearly be an improvement on what is there now, I think.

I think pound shops are brilliant - I recently got some really nice (though small!) rugs in one for a pound each. They often have excellent bargains.


I'd love to see one in ED.


Not going to happen though, is it?


I will miss Iceland's excellent free range eggs at a pound for six, and some of their frozen stuff.


I no longer rate their fresh veg though :(

You can always go to Rye Lane for pound shop tat - it's not far. It's got the proper authentic pound shop smell too. Oh, and an Iceland.

Pound shops do see some "tat", but they also sell a lot of brand name stuff for a quid, it's great.


But many would rather pay three times as much for the same item because they couldn't lower themselves to go in a pound shop. Let them waste their money.

I shall miss Iceland and all its bargains and the friendly staff too. When you're short of a few bob and you need to stock up on essentials Iceland has always been a good place to go to where your pounds can stretch that bit further. Not everyone in East Dulwich is loaded and I'm sure I'm not the only one who shall miss the convenience of it being there on Lordship Lane.

It's the suggestion that Iceland is only there for 'poor' people is the very reason it has been

stigmatized by some who have suggested it is an eyesore.


I do not use Iceland primarily to save money. I use Iceland when it is convenient, often just popping in

when out and about on Lordship Lane. The staff there are indeed friendly and helpful with a more personal touch.


I cannot see any replacement being able to give that personal touch and I will be sad to see it go.

I will miss Iceland too. I dislke shopping but the great thing about there is you can get in and out quickly and get whatever basics you need. I will especially miss their spicy bean burgers. As for it being an eyesore, I do think it's shop branding (if that's what it's called) doesn't look great.Something about the colour.


I've also found the staff to be particularly friendly, though on my last visit I was shortchanged by a checkout lady who I'd never seen before. I always pay with cash and she somehow registered ?25 on the till instead of the ?30 I gave her. There was no arguement once I and the people next in the queue pointed this out. Still, it made me wonder.


I don't consider myself 'poor' as I always eat and drink, but it is better value to me than the Coop down the street which seems very expensive on the few visits I've had there.

Perhaps ED people believe they are in the film Independence Day. Went to bed one night living in their perfect fashioned world and next morning, it all changed.HELP


Iceland is always mentioned but it was there long before many people moved in when not being able to afford elsewhere.


Whilst it is welcome for the area to improve do not ignore the requirements of others. Rather like the old days of moving to a country village because it was cute and then doing all in ones power to make it over to to where they came from. People make an area not prissy shops.
