It's shit.

Nor have I, I'd be a bit worried about the hygiene factor. However, it didn't stop Peter Jones in Sloane Square from selling a particular blend in 2008 for ?50 a cup for charity.

Not sure Anderson's in Bellenden Road would have the nerve to try selling coffee at that price though.

When you're in Vietnam you see packets and packets of "weasel" coffee which is supposed to be this stuff they've shat out.

Bollox.

you'd have to have farms of weasels eating and pooing these coffee beans out 24/7 to make the volume they sell. Marketing nonsense for tourists.

And yes, ?2.50 is pricey. But that sums up Andersons well - along with the sour service. Medium black coffee.....?2 max.

We have some of that weasle coffee at work, a chinese guy brought it back - but we only used it once - still have it I think.

Interesting to know if its a true method of production, he seemed to think it was.

Americano at Denmark Hill station (segafredo?) is ?1.45.

I thought Anderson's service had improved. But their cake prices have gone up a fair bit as well. I seem to remember they were offering a shot of expresso when they opened for about a pound. Not sure how that translates to ?2.50 for a black Americano though.

Well if Anderson's in Bellenden Road is Charging ?2.50 for a black Americano...

Then they are much more Trendy than all the Cheepo coffee shops in ED.

ED coffee shops will need to charge ?3.50 to regain their Status and Respect...

Can't have ED Folk drinking in anything other than the most expensive outlets. Mwah..

Well the best cup of coffee I had was high on a volcano overlooking Ubud in Bali, sat in a farm full of weasels eating and pooing these coffee beans out 24/7! Very friendly they were too.

They use that clever nose of theirs to sniff out the ripest beans, and then their gut enzymes breakdown many of the chemicals that make coffee taste bitter - so the cleaned and roasted beans are some of the smoothest you can get!

I have it on good authority that the Vietnamese cat poo coffee isn't the real thing - but it's stuff that's been chemically treated to taste similar.

It's not unlike the dark days pre EU when anyone could claim to make Parmesan, Parma gam or Bordeaux wine - these terms were considered by rapacious businessmen to be 'styles' rather than a measure of authenticity.

I recommend to coffee fans to NOT taste real cat poo coffee, as everything else will seem a poor substitue afterwards.

the omnipresent helen graves rates Andersons as #8 in the list of top food places in peckham

read and then reread the article - it appears that she have never actually there, but like the look of things, so its worthy of a ranking. A food critic who compiles her top 10 lists of foodie places by looking through the fucking window

The bread is good from andersons FYI.

To be fair though, its worth paying a premium NOT to have to go to Blue Mountain

The bread is from Blackbird, so not very original. I saw the blog you linked to. She hasn't been to Melange either.

Black Americano is now ?1.50 at Blue Mountain. I don't have a problem with going in there for a take-away.

  • 11 months later...
this is unrelated to coffee but related to price - i paid ?3 for a brownie in andersons last week - is this a little bit expensive??? considering most brownies in borough market are 1.50 - 2.50...and this brownie was nice, but nothing special, and i had it to take away. if i had of known the price before i bought it, i wouldn't have bothered...
