lovinglondon
Hi,We have water coming up through our cellar floor and think we need to re-concrete it. Has anyone used someone to do something like this? Thanks a lot. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/232541-concreting-cellar-floor/ Share on other sites
KidKruger
might be worth finding out cause of water intake (water supply leak/drain/groundwater).then determine whether cause can be fixed or if you need to ?tank? the cellar (perhaps that's what you mean when you mention concreting). fishbiscuits
We all want dry cellars, but I'm afraid it's not quite as simple as ensuring the floor is watertight. You can tank the floor with a waterproof render/slurry, however, you're just going to "push" the water elsewhere, and it will enter the cellar at the next lowest point - i.e. the base of the walls. This is solved by either digging drainage channels along the edges, or using an above-floor drainage (e.g. "DryTrak"). This then leads into a sump, where it can be pumped away. So, it's something of a specialist job. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/232541-concreting-cellar-floor/#findComment-1357544 Share on other sites
Pugwash
Parts of ED are over streams which in some circumstances flood cellars. We had a flood many years ago which was found to be coming from a blocked main sewer in street. The house opposite was having building work and builders were tipping rubbish down the man hole.
